Tasted on tap @Craft Beer Co, London, on 09/11/2012. Pours immensly black with a prertty brownish head. Taste is quite intense and complex, very citrusy fresh upfront and roasty in the end. Aftertaste is well tart, roasty and bitter - a great mix. Could easily say - aftertaste is the best part in this beer. Recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Body of sweet dark malt, with some chocolade, herbs and dark fruits. Only mildly hoppy, spicy aftertaste with what seems like a gentle pepper. Nice.

Black ipa veramente in forma, con luppoli scattanti e fruttati, ma soprattutto con un carattere cioccolatoso intenso, note di caffé e malti tostati, buon amaro finale. Ottima!

A- Deep, dark brown hue with a light brown head that fades rather quickly. S- Roasty, yeasty, hints of burnt bread, caramel T- Roasted malt, marshmallow, caramel, light floral hop notes M- light bodied and effervescent D- Nice and quaffable brew. I would drink this again given the chance due to the balanced flavor profile.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown to black color with a large light brown head made up of mostly little tiny bubbles that just sits there. First whiff is cocoa powder, smells like when you are baking brownies. Not really much hops. Taste is initially dark chocolate with some bitter chocolate notes as well. Still no hops in the flavor really. Some grassy notes. This seems on the less aggressive side of a black IPA. The roast is a little over the top, but isn’t really clashing with any hops, so it’s more of a stout with some hops really. I quite like it. Reminds me of Sweetwater happy ending when fresh or other American stouts

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown almost black pour with a substantial frothy light tan head, chocolate and pine aroma, taste has zesty citrus, a hint of grapefruit and some traces of pine, which is backed up with chocolate and roast malts, viscous mouthfeel, excellent BIPA.

Bottle at home. Pours cloudy and particulate black with a medium, creamy beige head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is earthy, minty, and herbal hops, dates, raisins, and prunes with coffee and roast malt. Flavor is dark fruits, dark malt, lightly tart, moderate hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Very dark, clear chestnut brown. Thin, filmy, tan head. Minty, fruity, bonfire toffee. Taste is toffee sweet, before a lovely, chewy, light liquorice, citric pithiness takes hold. Light chew and light oiliness on the palate. Any roast bitterness waits until the end. Very nice.
