3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted on tap @Craft Beer Co, London, on 09/11/2012.
Pours immensly black with a prertty brownish head.
Taste is quite intense and complex, very citrusy fresh upfront and roasty in the end.
Aftertaste is well tart, roasty and bitter - a great mix. Could easily say - aftertaste is the best part in this beer.

Need to stuff nose into glass to catch something in aroma. Some roasted malts, some hops, bit fruity, bit choco.. Cant call this good balance.. just plain
Sweetish with bttersweet finish. Not disaster, but price/performance - bad

Very sweet. Plenty of caramel in the malt. Didnít even realise it was a black ipa until now. I had it down as a sweet stout although i was impressed by the sharp, rounded hops. Very smooth. Overall a little sweet for my taste.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with a large, fading tan head.
Nose shows pine, roasted malt and grapefruit. Somewhat limited.
Big roasted malt flavours but with a fair bit of caramel sweetness behind it. Also pine and grapefruit.
Too much carbonation for these flavours.

Bottle: Murky brown with a nice frothy head. Toasty, hoppy, aroma with a smooth full body in the feel. Cardboard, hoppy, thick, twangy. Quite interesting and very good. Heavy and meant to be drunk slowly.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
A dark cola brown coloured beer with a frothy off-white head. A heady hop aroma, piney and grassy. Dry mouthfeel. A mouth-filling complex taste. Bitter resinous hops, with a piney grass flavour. This is followed by a slightly smokey, burnt sugar and dark chocolate malt flavour. All of which last into a lingering finish.
