Bottle. High creamy and lasting light brown head. Very dark, almost black, brown body. Aroma of roasted malt with coffee. Flavor of hard roasted malt with coffee, caramel and notes of grass with a suitable amount of hops bitterness. Long bitter finish. Alcohol level seems just right.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Martinus (1779) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 10, 2013
Dark brown to black colour, firm beige head. Aroma of bitter roasted malts, hops, chocolate, sorachi. Bitter flavour, roasted malts, thin coffee. Quite thin body, bitter finish, watery chocolate.
No real balance between the malts and hops. Not my favourite style either.
(from 33cL bottle @ home. Thanks Rene for bringing me these beers from Denmark!)

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jmgreenuk (1284) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAY 5, 2013
Tap at the Milkeller Bar. Poured a deep mahogany with a bubbly off-white head. The aroma is week malt, leading to a smooth medium bitter flavour with some malt and a little liqourice on the palate . A nice enough beer, but its not worthy of the high rating IMO.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sammy (7035) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 4, 2013
Met my expectation of a tasty black ipa. Bottle from Village Beer Market. The roast and hop balance was very good. The hops lead, would it be as good another 2 months? I do not know, good malting aided great drinkability. Somewhat expensive but worth it for me.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 SperkeleForce (134) - FINLAND - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle 33 cl. Pours really nice coffee like with an well rounded and lasting brown head, a great lemon and grass scent. First sip has a great deep coffee aroma. Notes of lemon, coffee, some roasted nuts. Really rich and full bodied. Aftertaste is som chocolate, lemon and vanilla. This one is an excelent complex Bipa.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 johninmelb (1005) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2013
Toasty, hoppy nose with some candy, some lychee, and some barbecued figs. Pours a muddy brown with a big, bold, beige head. Flavour is richly fruity and vineous - almost belgian strong ale in character - with a strong hop presence adding excellent balance. Quite lively from the yeast, but this is no detraction given the fine other qualities of this corker of a BIPA. Excellent.
