Ale brewed with lychee fruit and aged in oak barrels.

“Kristina, one lychee fruit lovin’ sour bitch, has always been a great friend to Mikkeller when we visit Chicago. This beer is made especially for her. A drink for our friend . . . cheers!”

Poured from a 750ml bottle. Dusty lychee fruit, sour apple, malty, bright acidity. Tasty. I found this to be very easy drinking.

A - Cloudy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Funk, tartness, wheat, lychee, oak, vanilla, souness, oak, lemon zest, funky yeasts. T - Wheat, tart green fruits and lemon zest, lychee, oak, vanilla, sourness, funky yeasts, acidity. THE Fruit Sour tasting. Hazy amber beer, good white head. Light palate, a little dry. Mild carbonation. Bitterish milky backdrop with mildly bitter fruit, mostly lemon and not much lychee at all, if any! Dry crisp finish. Meh! Pretty disappointed by this one. Still waiting for a decent lychee beer.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a lightly hazed golden hued body with a medium sized and retentive white head. Aromas are funky and musty with medium phenols. Attic, earthy, lychee, medium honey, floral, tart, yogurt. Flavors are of cobwebs, musty funk, earthy, nutty, medium acid, damp leaves. Lively carbonation, medium duration, lighter body. Rough brett funk in the finish. A bit unrefined.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2013 Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head. The aroma is lychee and oak. Thin mouthfeel with a light sour fruit and tart finish. Easy to drink, a good fruit beer from Mikkeller.

Bottle at The Fruit Sour Tasting, London - thanks to Ken for this one. Pours cloudy gold with a moderate, white foam head. Fresh aroma, some sweat, light fruits. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong tartness, more fruits (lychee, I guess). Medium bodied with average carbonation. Robust tartness at the end, tangy fruits, funk, poo. Very decent.

The beer is transparent and light orange hued with a thick white head that leaves ample lacing on the glass. The aroma is white wine, tart fruit, oak. The flavor brings a puckering sensation with what must be the lychee fruit. Tart and sour, but balanced by a delicate fruit sweetness and a hint of alcohol. Overall, interesting, intriguing, and enjoyable. That said, this is not in the upper echelon of lambics. Recommended. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-18-2011

Bottle thanks to Ken at THE fruit sour tasting. It pours deep hazy orange with a small white head. The nose is weakly sour, lemon, grapefruit, sour lychee, peach, tangerine and wood. The taste is tart peach, apricot, prickly sherbet, orange, lychee, tart lemon, some acidity, dust, earth and wood with a dry tart finish. Medium body and effervescent carbonation. A decent fruity sour ale, but I am left slightly underwhelmed.
