With the signature Brett nose, this beer is just the right amount of sour and tart berry flavor. Well put together and very drinkable brew ..nice! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3/25/14. 375mL bottle from Grassroots, split into two glasses. The wife noticed right away that one was clearer and less thick. Maybe should have gotten colder and poured carefully. Oh well. I will try both. Hazy purple red pour with a half-finger khaki purple head that cuts and doesn’t lace a ton as I progress. Both glasses smell about the same, one a touch breadier, but mainly it’s crisp tartness, tart berries, acidic, sour even, a touch more crispness out of the clearer glass, both smell a touch jammy, borderline tannic. Tart flavor, generic berries, a little jammy, plenty acidic and sour. The yeastier glass is a touch earthier and gritty, but not all that different. Tasty enough, but I think I like the other Spontanales I’ve had a touch better.

Bottle at Brewdog Edinburgh, shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours purple with a thin pinkish head. Lambic funk nose, big blackcurrant aroma too. Big sour taste, lots of fruit. Creamy texture, leading to sour and refreshing finish. Very nice.

2013 bottle, see through ruby red pour with red off colour head. Aroma of funk, a sweaty jockstrap and tart fruit. Taste, mild tartness, funk, surmising something but don’t know what...extra funk, dry tart finish. Really interesting beer, the aroma smells like mouldy fruit drenched in captain black beards sweaty socks, but the taste is well balanced, and down right tasty. Cooool

Bottle. Fairly bright red pour with lots of bubbles. Tarty currant filled aroma with a hint of funk and oak. Flavors are decently sweet up front before grabbing your palate with a load of funky currant barnyard sour puckery goodness that lingers through the finish. Really liked this one.

pours hazy red-purplish with a small off-white cap, some retention and lacing. berries, but i get mostly blueberries, bit of jam - overall nice fruitiness, some funk, bretts, minerals, pepper, herbal-grassiness. moderate carbonation, light body - oily, herbal-grassy and citric-lactic finish. dry, balanced and tasty fruitiness.
