Mikkeller gets a little sour. SpontanCherryFrederiksdal is an oak aged sour ale by the Danish gypsy brewery. Frederiksdal refers to the estate from which the beer gets its sour cherries.

Draft at Eulogy. Very dark hazy ruby pour with a slim white head. Nice deep black cherry flavors. Some dark malts. Red plums. Blood orange chocolates. Fairly clean sour with a nice fuzzy oak finish. Pretty extraordinary!

"Effin incredible brew that blows the socks off every other Spontan-beer Mikkeller makes, including thevery good kriek. Deep dark red pour, beautiful beer. Velvety soft feel. Aroma is woodsie with semi-sweet dark cherry flavor. Sour.tart aspect is well integrated and different than the others. Deeelicious. The depth of fruit here is more reminiscent of a luscious red wine than most any beer...and they make a cherry wine from the Frederiskdal Estate in Denmark. The only one I’ll spend the coin to get again! "

Bottle at home with my wife. Pour is deep dark cherry with a small pink head that quickly dissipated. Rich cherries, vanilla, spice, some oak characteristics, black currants, grapey and tannic aroma. Taste is tangy, pungent black cherries, fruit pit, light vanilla, some pie crust, and raspberries with a semi-sour finish. Full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Great fruit characteristics and pretty tasty.

bottle split with Adnielsen. Pours like foamy grape juice. Aroma is funky, sweet, vinuous. Definitely smells like a sweet wine. Taste is dry, tart, vinuous. Not great...mostly just overly sweet. Can’t get overt the wine aroma. Overall not great.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a very deep reddish purple appearance with a dark pink head. The aroma has a really rich dark berry nose to it. I suppose it’s a bit like black cherry dessert bars. Soft mouth feel. Rich flavor that’s quite tart. Really juicy, black pie cherries. Tart finish. The richness of the black cherries is pretty amazing even if I’m not a crazy fan of the brew. Interesting.

375 ml bottle purchased at Dave’s Bellport Cold Beer and Soda. Pours a deep red with a fizzy pink head that quickly dissipates. Very pleasant aroma that is fulled with sour cherry along with some oakiness lurking in the background. The flavor is lovely with ample sour cherry, bright and tart, again with some background oak and just a bit of vanilla. Tart and bright on the palate. Quite enjoyable.

Pour from a bottle is a nice opaque reddish black with a red head. The aroma is a subtle sweetness. When it hits your tongue you immediately taste the sweet cherries and then goes into the sour with a slight oak flavor. Leaves a tart after taste.

Hazy dark red with a small white head. Cherry dominates aroma and flavour. Fruity and tart.
