Pours deep burgundy with a couple of fingers of dark pink frothy head. No doubt about it, this is one beautiful beer! Nose is strangely subdued, held back. Some cherry, oak wood, red grapes, basement aromas. Taste is big cherry sour with clear bretta, tasty but not very balanced. Body is light and refreshing with average carbonation.

Backlog rating. 37.5cl bottle from BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a deep ruby color with a nice pink-ish head. Aroma is sour and tart with red berries, tart cherries, lemon sherbet and some funk. Taste is acidic and tart with more lemon juice, red fruits sweetness, tart cherries, sweet cherries, funk. Finishes acidic and fruity. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Overall, standout kriek

Bottle, courtesy of a kind soul... shared in a location remote of my dining room.
Pours a very dark red, bordering on "red wine purple" with a smallish head and some decent lacing on the glass.

The aroma is fruity but a touch tannic. It’s got a lot of similarities to an acidic but still rich fruit forward red wine. It’s got some funkiness to it and some nice oak with a lot of rich sweet and tart cherry character.

The flavor is both tart and rich with lots of dark cherry character but at the same time it has a lot of sour cherry to it as well. It’s oaky and only mildly sour. Much like the aroma the flavor has many attributes akin to red wine in it’s fruit and oak character but it even seems to bring in a touch of tannin and red grape. Everything is well balanced, complex, tart, and harmonious here.
I really enjoy this beer.

Clear scarlet colour, pink head. Aroma of cherries, red fruits, dried plums, very(!) fruity, amarena cherries, cherry juice. Quite bitter flavour, fruity, red wine, pinot noir, wood. Reminding of 3F Intense Red. Quite astringent. Finish wood, lots of cherries, red fruits, wine grapes and cherry pips. Nice.

Deep red purple color. Purple head. Tart aroma, hint of vinegar, cherries and oak. Slight vanilla. Lightly tart, slightly sour, cherry not as intense as I would have expected. Some tanin bitterness. Hopefully this develops more. Still solid.

Poured from bottle to glass. Blood red with fizzy pink head that dissipated. Aroma is cherry, lactic, oak, acetic. Mouthfeel is good with a medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet with a tart following and vinegar finish. Overall this is a decent brew.

37,5cl bottle at Grünerløkka brygghus (Mikkeller tap takeover). Intense deep red colour with a pink head. Very fruity aroma with lots of sweet dark cherries, hints of almond and sour berries. Intensely fruity with a mild sourness. Desserty and quite delicious.

neongolden (560) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 26, 2014
(Bottle at NK Bar, Stockholm, Oct 15 2014) Pours a deep purplish read like a full bodied red wine, with a small pinkish head that fades to a ring with a little lace. Aroma powerful tart cherry with oak and vanilla overtones, a vinous red wine character to the nose as well. Flavour more sour than the nose would suggest, with tart cherries in the lead as expected. There is a moderate oaky character, and a deeper dark fruit sweetness that is almost overwhelmed by the moderately sour acidic notes. Body is medium with active carb. Quite nice really, good cherry character. It’s not really a match for a top flight Belgian kriek but it’s a great sour fruit beer in its own right.
