3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle I took to watch football with Andy, Max, Pearl, Paul. Pours a deep ruby and garnet hued red with a thin pink head. A touch of cough drops, a bit funky and weird, sweet, with a bit of that weird fecal note that sometimes shows up. Still rather nice. Medium-bodied, a little herbal, lots of delicate earthy cherries. A bit of funkiness, chewy cherry skin tannins, very delicate, a bit more earthy funk. Lingering cherry, a bit more funk. Rather tasty.

Wow. Smells like cherry pie. Deep cherry flavor that is both tart and sweet. Dark reddish purple in color with little carbonation. One of the best sours I’ve ever had.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Hazel’s beverage world. pours deep and robust cherry with a cherry head. leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. I can smell the tart cherries from the keyboard. If put my nose closer to the glass I can smell some of the evidence of the barrel aging. I definitely get some cherry on the tongue as well as some tartness. Hides it’s alcohol well. I was expecting a bigger flavor palate on the tongue but would make a nice compliment to a steak.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle @ Cardinal. Dark, blood red body with a rather small and fast disappearing, pink head leaving curtains. Strong matured cherry aroma, feels both sweet and acidic, light wood and hint of marzipan. Flavor is sweet cherry, acidic fruit, light wood, some marzipan and some kind of fruity bitterness. Fine, strong and balanced body with a long lasting aftertaste. It’s really good, but not magic. It’s not like the best Belgium versions of kriek or oude brune but at the same time it feels like such a different thing that it might be a bit unfear to compare. Do doubt a well-made fruit beer, it might even develop a bit yet, as there is still more potensiale to go for here.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
375 ml bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. 2013 edition best by 23/01/22. Dark ruby with just over a finger of nice pink head. Aromas of tart cherries, some vanilla, sweet dark fruit, a touch of vinegar. Nice sweet aroma that kind of reminds me of some sweeter meads. Tastes of big tart and sour cherries and dark fruit, oak, vinegar, sour acidic notes. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Alcohol is well masked. Very tasty cherry lambic.
