3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Bottleworks. Served quite chilled, and the flavors come out better as it warms. The color is that of pure gooseberry, pale sunshine orange. The carbonation is just right--lively with good prickle on the tongue. The most outstanding feature of this well-made beer is the natural bitterness in the finish. That little kick adds depth and complexity. The beer is a palate freshener. Very balanced and clean. Glad to have tried this.

On tap at The Trappist. Pours orange copper with a nice off-white head and a faint sour fruit aroma. There is a hearty dark fruit flavor with a slightly sour finish. A pleasant brew.

Tap at Mikkeller BKK beginning of February. This was another one of my favorites in the series Spontan. Whatever it was in the gooseberry it really kick in well with the brett and funky barnyard flavors for a beautiful sour elixir I wanted to drink forever. Dank!

Pale and hazy, very refreshing, mixing light bitterness with some clean lacto and a splash of gooseberry fruitiness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Steve_0. Pours a pretty hazy golden orange appearance with a white head. Kiwi / lemon / passion fruit aroma with a bit of vanilla / marshmallow. Pretty tart flavor. Kind of thick / goopy mouth feel. Moderately sour. Kind of a strange fruit flavor. Fine.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is non-discript berries and funk and sweetness. The flavor is malts, funk, what I’m assuming is gooseberries and an intense sour/tart finish.

SFBW Sour Sunday 2014. This beer is very dfferent and has some funk right up front. As you take your first sip comes the bready, nut, tartness that balances out really well. It’s earthy and sour characteristics mesh really well. I was really surprised by this one after tasting some of the others in this series and not really enjoying them.
