3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Fred82 (1992) - Québec City, Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2012
375ml bottle shared by Rastacouere.
Appearance : Clear yellow with small head.
Aroma : Nice funk with tart citrusy notes. Light green grapes.
Taste : Citrusy and acidic with nice grapes. Finish is nicely tart with light green grapes fruits.
Overall : Good but the worst of the 4 we had (others being cassis, cranberry and redcurrant). Not as complex as the others. Fairly unidimensional. Nice citrusy tartness and nice fruits.

Golden yellow colour, deminishing white head. Aroma of silage, horse blanket, sweat. Malty flavour, some wine notes. Quite harsh and bitter tart. Malty finish, light mint, quite fresh.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jrizko (42) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 25, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2012 (First Taste, Home, New 375mL Bottle, Flute, 7.7% ABV, Cellar Temp, 25/03/12. #25.)
Appearance (3/5): Pours a pale, slightly hazy golden hue. Big fizzy white head that quickly diminishes. Fair lacing.
Aroma (8/10): Dominant green apple, citrus, and barnyard, with notes of cheese, white wine, grape, and vinegar.
Taste (7/10): Very sour and slightly acetic initially, which dies down to a slightly bitter, tart, short finish. Cheese comes out in the end.
Palate (4/5): Light body, vigorous carbonation, dry mouthfeel, clean finish. Almost like champagne.
Overall (14/20): Very strong acidity. Would be nicer without the vinegar, but still very refreshing.
Drinkability: 3/5. Character: 4/5. Buy Again: Probably No.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DuffMan (5187) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 18, 2012
Bottle. Slightly hazy medium gold, with a lively bubbly white head that recedes quite quickly to nearly nothing. Aroma is sour musty unripened orchard fruits with lactic and vinegar notes. Sour, tart, and bitter in that order through the swallow. There is nothing juicy or sweet here. Crabapple, lemon rind, yoghurt, dusty undertones. Not puckeringly sour, but sour enough to satisfy. Refreshing and yummy.

Bottle thx to benzai@zzt3. Yellow to golden colour with no head. Smells sour, some burning rubber, not that much smell. Tastes slightly sour, grapes and a bit watery. Thin palate, okay carbo, slightly dry.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bin905beerbums (9) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 6, 2012 does not count
Interesting change and nice to see the Mikkeller boys stepping outside the over the top stout category... I think pouring this beer in the middle of the Calgary winter (IT ARRIVED YAY!!!) was both nuts and revolutionary at the same time. The beer was also refreshing after drinking so many concocted, confectioned products from other producers of late. Lemon grass and light grape on the nose with thick heady lacing that is long lasting. Medium to light body that shows the fact natural fruit/pomace was used instead of the Comptoir Sucrier truck backed up filling the tanks with white gold. The palate was highly acidic, showing the great Geuze characteristics, so good in fact it made one of the staff members cry as she screamed "Sour Apples".... This beer at 7.7 could be damn dangerous in the warmer months... looking forward to trying the Spontancassis..

I read the ratebeer description - I couldn’t agree more. ? Poured out a light gold amber hazy thing with a colossal head that was helped out by the etching in my glass. Simmered down to a thick pillow of off white goodness on one half and the other a messy darker bubble cover. Smells about right even if a bit more on the fruitier side. Sour apples, wet corn flakes, barely recognizable vinegar, musty wood, lemon sourness, mild funky backside. Good flavour - highly drinkable instantly. 7.7% is more than I would have expected. Medium sourness with ample funk.. the sourness bites harder right before the finish. Lemon and a bit of apple, some must, has a woody, earthy bite. A bit of zip and a hard yeast sucking hit. Good carbonation, leaves my mouth watering and wanting more. Nice, tasty and refreshing brew.
