This was a weird combo. I liked it for sure, but not quite for the price. Never had such a strong orange and citrus presence with a vinegary base. Weird but nice.

Bottle at home in a snifter. Pours a yellow-orange with small head. Aroma is citrus with orange, lemon, and peach for some reason. The taste was an orange sour, but mild in fruit. Sourness was about a 5 out of 10. Dry, clean. A little bigger body than usual for a lambic. Overall enjoyable.

Bottle. Fruity and unexpectedly creamy aroma with a bright, orangey sourness. Tingly sweet and sour flavour with orange, white grape, cranberry, and cherry. Light body, high carbonation, dry.

Bottle shared. Clear golden with off white head with some big bubbles. Hay, funk, wood, sour gooseberries, leaves, maybe some tangerine? There’s definately some fruit here, but hard to pin down as its overwhelmed by hay and straw notes. Medium sour with under medium bitterness. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Decent.

A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a, perhaps, one-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a ruddy, straw / honey color that shows a clear, straw stained, rich golden hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells quite inviting, mostly meaning that it smells a lot more Lambic than I was expecting; musty, funky, earthy, musky, quite tart and lactic, with spicy grapefruit notes, and some floral citrus zest character that gets somewhat hidden by the ample lactic notes.

Soft and creamy textured (really quite nice, right in the sweet spot of where a Lambic should be), but has a soft, prickly, persistent carbonation. The has a full, hay-like, threshed pale grain character to it as well as a bitter, slightly astringent finish that seems a mix of dried hay notes, and perhaps some bitter citrus character. The mandarin / citrus character becomes a bit more distinct after a couple of sips, and it provides a nice, bright, citrusy finish to this beer. Definitely funky too, ample musty notes, with a phenolic not quite medicinal, not quite musky character, and slight dried-sweat leather notes. The lactic acidity is more in balance than it is in the nose (though it is not out of whack there), soft and well balanced by the pale malt / grain character, but still providing a sour flavor that anchors the whole the whole beer.

This is a really nice example of a "Lambic"; the mandarin character is certainly supporting, and a bit muted compared to many expressive fruit Lambics, but it is well done here, and really supports the whole.

2013 Bottle. Golden pour with white head. Tart and funky mandarin aromas. Fruit may have fallen off a little, tart fruits, light citrus tones.
