Dec 19, 2008 After travelling across an ocean and then across a good chunk of the U.S., this fine IPA still gave off a burst of fresh hoppy aroma when I opened the bottle. Grassy lemoney piney goodness! The deep golden liquid with nice off-white foam jumped out of my cup and greeted me with the joy of a long-lost friend. Its taste lingered and changed while clinging to my tongue, bringing visions of sunny citrus orchards, dew-kissed herb gardens, and even the mighty Viking warships of yore. Buy a bottle if you can. It’s like being in Denmark and San Diego and India at the same time... woah.

Dec 14, 2008 500ml bottle poured into a shaker. Starting temperature at 39 degrees F. MSIPA pours murky and bronze-colored with a smallish head of fine bubbles that leave lace curtains on the side of the glass. The aroma is of hops, pine and spearmint. This beer has a nice thick body that is just a touch oily, no doubt from the hops. The flavor is solid and bitter. It has pine and hemp flavors as well. This is another excellent showing from Mikkeller yet not a beer that stands out in the ultra-competitive category of world-class IPAs.

Dec 13, 2008 The Dan Journal No.247. Tasted 11/10/08. 500ml bottle. Hazy and mildly sedimented with a golden orange hue. Bright fresh hop aromas. Lemon candy and orange. Touch piney hop note. Medium to Full bodied with a tart and tangy palate. Big bitterness in the finish. Solid drinking and a good interpretation.

Dec 12, 2008 Soft caramel orange body with two foaming fingers of dirty brownish white head with great retention and sticky lacing. Big pine and grapefruit hop aroma. Taste is strong pine needle hops over a thin caramel malt backbone.

Nov 30, 2008 Bottle from Crown #19.
Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium to full body with a oily slick texture. Moderate to heavy bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration.
Very good brew.

Nov 28, 2008 Large sloppy off-white head of varying sized bubbles. Mild hops aroma with some sweet malts, dusty dry grains and some nutty notes. Color is a bright copper. Moderate flavor for an IPA. More hops and bitterness showing up in the flavor. Bit of caramel malts and some dry bitter red peanut skins. Bitterness lingers for quite a while with a noticable alcohol presence that warms the mouth and makes the hops come more alive. This is a verty good IPA just not much really that sets it apart from others.

Nov 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden/amber with a big foamy off white head. Aromas of citrus, earth, and grass. Flavor is citrus, pine, flowers, earthy, and a nice malty backbone.

Nov 21, 2008 Bottled poured into chilled pint glass. I think this might be my first beer from Mikkeller. I like it! It really does smell and taste like a west coast IPA. Good citrus taste with a nice texture.
