Commercial Description:
Earlier batches brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
A love of American microbrews is the inspiration behind this IPA, brewed with generous amounts of aromatic, American hops, which provide the significant freshness and bitterness with lots of citrus notes. The taste sensations are nicely balanced by the sweetness from the caramel malt.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pilsner, munich and caramunich), flaked oats, hops (chinook, cascade and amarillo) and ale yeast.

Poured from a 650ml bottle and served in a shaker. This IPA poured a clear amber color with a large, lasting beige head. A decent amount of solid lacing was left around the glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of sweet citrus notes and caramel. The flavor of the beer included notes of bitter grapefruit rind, sweet caramel, toffee, and just a hint of alcohol. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied and slightly resiny with minimal carbonation. Overall, this was a well executed, straight to the point IPA. Nicely balanced and not overly bitter. Very tasty!

Bottle. Real good citrus ipa aroma hits the nose. Copper body with lot of carbination bubbles and creamy foamy head. Decent lacing. Flavor has that quality citrus hop to it. But also with the juicy citrus a bitterness that hits hard mellows out and comes back. Dryness lingers on the palate along with the oranges. Good brew.

Pours apricot w/ a solid two finger frothworth. Good head retention receding slowly to reveal a full spattered canopy. Aromas of crispy citrus rind w/ mild biscuiting. Medium nectar w/ good carbonation resulting in a cotton like texture. Balance is of the essence and this brew has it. Crispy, crunchy, chewy hop flowers dominate a perfect malt backbone. The brew flares up on the palate and you almost have to eat it to get it down. The finish is bittered well w/ a heavy citrus rind component. This is a well made IPA thats true to it’s style. Not too malty or grapefuity and gladly not in the least bit sweet. They were going for an American style and they hit the nail on the head. Highly recommended.

Bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours hazy orange with a small, fizzy and bubbly light brown head, somewhat lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is average malt (cereal, straw), heavy hops (flowers, pine, spruce, citrus), average yeast (sweat, soap) with notes of pear, peach, and paper. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

16.9 oz. bottle courtesy of CelticBrew - thanks for this one Jim. Nice looking beer with a a clear amber body and a large frothy off white head that lasts well and has good lace. Pine and citrus fresh hop aroma dominates, but there is also some grainy, grassy notes, and a background of some floral honey. Medium body and carbonation, quite dry and clean. Significantly bitter, perhaps a little overly so, but still with a light malty sweetness discernible. Long, grapefruit rind bitter finish. Certainly a good interpretation of an American style IPA.

Solid offering from mikkeller entering the american ipa fare. Citrus grapefruit and a bit of pine on the nose. Hazy golden pour with small head. Flavor about standard for an IPA but a bit above average. Overall an enjoyable beer.

Hazy auburn in color, smallish head. Mild floral citrus aroma. Soft palate with an understated hop presence. Full bodied with some caramel flavor and big malt. Mellow IPA.

After loving Geek Breakfast, I was expecting another taste-blowing experience. Not exactly. Though I really like this IPA which is light on the hops and pine taste, I think my hopes were too high. This is a nice beer. More like a tame American IPA.
