| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Pours a clear golden orangey amber with a fluffy head of off-white. Aromas are brash with citrusy west coast hoppiness along with a fair amount of pine. Strong bitter flavor with grapefruit rind and pine resins. Solid caramel backbone here. Lip-smacking stickiness. A lingering perfumey flair that tends to distract. A solid American IPA from Denmark, but the $9+ price tag for a bottle is a little steep for multiple revisits. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2007 I definitely dig this one. Flowery hops in the aroma with a hint of pine. Sticky mouthfeel. Some pine and citrus along with a mineral bitterness in the flavor. Mikkeler wins! eaglefan538 (2358), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Bottle. Pour was amber with some orangey hues, nice generous initial head, solid lacing. The aroma was fruity hops with some grain elements underneath. The flavor was barely ripe grapefruit and citrus rind notes, resin, all with a firm almost euro-noble super bitter hopping underneath and finishing quite strong. Melons and other similar fruits support the base flavors. A bitter little sucker, indeed, right on for the style, and indeed true to the stateside standards of such a concoction. Semi-dry finish, anything but malty strong. TURDFERGUSON (1598), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Bottle from Sam’s. This tasted like a nice, american-style ipa. The hops were a bit muted to the caramel malt backbone. I would love to try this fresh on tap in Denmark. Another nice beer from Mikkeller. JB175 (1662), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2007 Amber color with a light-med head. Aroma is well hopped, but a bit too malty - citrus and floral hops dominate, but too much sugary scent. Flavor is a nice citrus/floral mix with a hefty dose of bread and caramel - a bit more than I care for, but it works. Nice hoppy/bitter mouthfeel that finishes nice. Good to try, but the price is a bit rough. michael-pollack (2650), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 21, 2007 500ml Bottle: Floral hoppy aroma with notes of citrus and a little cream. Poured amber in color with a medium to large off-white head that lasted throughout. Very good lacing. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is medium bitter. Tastes of hops, caramel, malts, dough, and a little resin. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Hoppy/malty finish tastes a bit salty. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 20, 2007 This is a tasty critter which has a nice reddish tint and some chewy hops but its a bit unbalanced with not much of a malty backbone to catch the strong bitter hops. The mouthfeel has a creamy texture but the flavor is a bit too perfume-like for me even though I typically enjoy bitter complex beers (aka Ruination, Dreadnaught, etc.). I do have to say this beats most of the IPAs on the market as far as style and flavor. jerc (3885), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Bottle via Inertiaboy. Hazy orange amber body with a big billowy beige head. Aroma is strong at first pour and a bit milder than I expected after that. An interesting melange of hops, a floral-citrus blend, moderate resiny notes. Flavour is hop forward, but surprisingly balanced and drinkable. Moderate bitterness throughout, pleasantly resiny hops with mild pine and citrus highlights. Alcohol is quite restrained, and hides behind the bitterness rather than being amplified by it like some similar brews. Smooth medium palate is quite appropriate (3+). Thanks for sending these my way Steve!
