Commercial Description:
Earlier batches brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
A love of American microbrews is the inspiration behind this IPA, brewed with generous amounts of aromatic, American hops, which provide the significant freshness and bitterness with lots of citrus notes. The taste sensations are nicely balanced by the sweetness from the caramel malt.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pilsner, munich and caramunich), flaked oats, hops (chinook, cascade and amarillo) and ale yeast.

(22oz bottle) Sampled at at a gathering at TiggMTL’s place in Vancouver on June 30, 2007. Bottle courtesy of TiggMTL. Nose is nicely balanced with strong malt base. Nice legs. Good flavour though a bid too malted and sweet for me.

Murky dull beige. Woodsy, limey hops are okay but the malts are a muddled mess with nothing coming through. Mild flavour, timidly hoppy and the malts still have no character. A hint of chocolate comes out late but not enough to save it.

Bottle (600ml?). Shared with tupalev, my bottle. Murky orange, small off-white head. UK funky hops in the aroma, thick sweet caramel malt, yeast and grapefruit. Taste follows, but very earthy - almost peaty - thick, nice linger. Thick body, mild carbonation, very malty yet long bitter aftertaste - very interesting take on the style, loved it by the end.

This bottle is over 1 year old: Colour is hazy orange/cobber. Off-white head. The aroma is of citrussy hops with a rasiny, nutty and vanilla notes. The taste is earthy with lots of hops that has a grassy character to them. The Cascade and Chinook clearly stands out. Has a lonhg aftertaste that mellows. Has a dry finish with a bit of hop burn.

Bottle. Creamy white head with a hazy, red brown body. A nice bitterness from hops, but not too much. Slightly sweet. Grapefruit.
