Dark golden body, lasting off-white head tinged with gold, hoppy nose with a hint of honey. Body dominated by hops, with a firm bitterness and Amarillo spiciness. Some citrus in the finish. Malts are dryish. Very nice. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Pours a very murky bronze copper color, small forming of an off white head. Aroma is butterscotch, the hops add a citrus fruit overtone. Flavor is definitely hops, subltle undertones of malt add to it. A balanced west coast IPA? | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2008 1 pt .9 fluid oz. bottle: Clear copper pour with little head left after a few minutes. Hops from start to finish, the nose is robust with rosey perfume, candied oranges and rindy grapefruit. A little bit of time opens up the caramel and toffee malts, which do a substantial job of balancing the hoppiness. Bitter is the best way to describe the body, chinook city would be another. After the initial feeling of taking a bite out of an under ripened grapefruit skin subsides, I notice a lot of orange and peach hoppiness and a nice amount of sweet malt as well. A nice IPA, but the bitterness is through the roof. Tame it back and this would be a solid IPA. Of course, I think you could score a sixer of Alpha King or Green Flash IPA for about the same price as this one bottle and be just as happy. armando629 (1024), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Amber hazy body with a delicios, small lacing head. Aroma of resin, citruses, some shifty hop. The flavor is powerful with tons of hop, citruses, resin like pine, in the background are caramel, malt, fine yeast. Bitter, dry finish. Fine, characteristic. kkearn (1016), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Bottle. Poured orange-amber, with a small off-white head. Grapefruity hop aroma, with a fair amount of malt in the background. Fairly big citric hop flavor. Long bitter finish, with some metallic character. Not bad, but not great. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 31, 2007 Bottle. Best imported IPA I’ve ever had, but doesn’t touch some of the West Coast IPA’s I’ve sampled. Maybe some of the hop edge was lost in the trans-Atlantic trip. ajm (976), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 6, 2008 It’s a good IPA. And while I don’t like it, I hope I am appreciating it properly. Pungent hops, but not overbearing - a bit heavy on the pine, but nice balance with just a quick flash of fruity sweetness.
