Commercial Description:
Earlier batches brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
A love of American microbrews is the inspiration behind this IPA, brewed with generous amounts of aromatic, American hops, which provide the significant freshness and bitterness with lots of citrus notes. The taste sensations are nicely balanced by the sweetness from the caramel malt.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pilsner, munich and caramunich), flaked oats, hops (chinook, cascade and amarillo) and ale yeast.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Aroma of citrus and pine. Golden amber color with a substantial white head. Thinnish body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is citrus and pine with caramel malt. The finish is nice bitter hop. It definitely has an effect on the mouth. Very tasty.

Pungent, floral and citrus hops are supported by a strong malt base in the aroma. Opaque, dark copper coloured body is topped by a low but lasting, fine bubbled white head that leaves some patchwork lacing. Quite sweet in the mouth with well rounded malty flavour offset by assertive bitterness. Flavours are perhaps a bit simple and somewhat disjointed, never quite coming together. Medium body with decent carbonation and pleasant texture in the mouth. Bottle sampled with BeerPrince, CapFlu, and Oakes.

Bottle from Kan and served in my GI IPA tulip: Pours a clean coppery hue with a huge foamy head and left outstanding lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of resiny piney citrusy hop along with a base of caramel and biscuity malts. The taste is classic hop driving bitterness and citric twang over a base of pale and sweet malt with a nice dash of clove and pepper upon the finish. Really this is more balanced than expected but that could be due to transport from Europe. I am sure it would be more aggressive and fresher on tap in the homeland. All in all I like this and would easily try again.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. A very clean brew (cold filtered?). This is assertively hopped but not aggressive. The malt is clean, sweet and pleasant, providing a decent backbone to the generous American hops. As this is not too extreme in malt or hops (and especially both) I am finding this more pleasant and drinkable than most IPAs - though it is slow progress. My personal inclination is for less hops and more drinkability. It’s a clean, slightly boring IPA with a slight burn. Acceptable.

50cL Danish bottling, 7%, dated 9/4/07.. thanks to sk8viking for the bottle! Poured healthy medium caramel with a towering cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up an intriguing and welcoming array of crisp lighter fruits, candy sweetness, and a bit of a sharp alcoholey bite right at the back. The flavor was centered around sweet candied fruits and lesser caramel with a solid floral, fruit, and pine hope bite around the edges.. the bottle is a little older, and the malt profile has stepped it up. Medium-bodied on the palate with a nice warm bitterness all around.. a little weak across the middle. Overall quite nice!
