| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 30, 2008 Pours an amazingly deep and clear ruby/amber with a wonderful beige froth that rivals the best double IPAs. Aroma is fruity, waxy and lots of resin, also some honey and citrus. Flavor is lots of melon, honey-dew, bitter grapefruit, and what seems like some english malts? Hops have a nice bite to them. It is quite dry for the style. Palate is waxy, disjointed but with fine fizzy carbonation. Similar to North Bridge Extreme. This is a fine beer, I do not understand its relatively low rating. unclemattie (2447), Georgia, USA

Pours a lusting gold with a huge foam of golden suds floating on the surface. Beautiful citrus hop aroma. Sweet and resiny. I love the aroma of Amarillo! Mouthfeel is strangely unique. Sweet full flavored, full bodied malt character. Just as you swallow the first sip, the hop bite kicks in. Sharp, smooth, bitter, and sweet. All together. Sweet at first then the heat. Just like the plate of thai food I ate as I enjoyed this bottle. And a perfect pairing. This beer is extremely pleasent, balanced, and a new favorite of mine. Big, earthy, citrus-honeycomb aroma. Huge flavors of the same with lots of resiny bittering to tame it. The almost-medium body is smooth, slightly oily, and near perfect. nuplastikk (1261), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Fresh hop fragrance. Bitter mouthfeel, with a solid malt backbone. Generously hopped. Really well balanced beer, with some nice caramel malt tastes to even it out. Top notch stuff. adm (5), Alfold Crossways, Surrey, England does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 5, 2008 I like this beer a lot.
The first thing that hits you as you pour it is the slightly hazy amber colour and the rich old ivory head that stays for a while before falling back leaving a medium lace. Then you take a sniff and a big burst of american hops hits you smack in the face - chinook, cascade and amarillo. A gorgeous resiny, citrussy burst.
Flavour is intense, orange and burnt caramel with a nice sweet malty background balancing the hoppy tang.
Slightly oily mouthfeel, very fine creamy carbonation.
I could drink a lot of this....
