lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 12, 2008 Soft caramel orange body with two foaming fingers of dirty brownish white head with great retention and sticky lacing. Big pine and grapefruit hop aroma. Taste is strong pine needle hops over a thin caramel malt backbone. Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle from Crown #19.
Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium to full body with a oily slick texture. Moderate to heavy bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration.
Very good brew. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 28, 2008 Large sloppy off-white head of varying sized bubbles. Mild hops aroma with some sweet malts, dusty dry grains and some nutty notes. Color is a bright copper. Moderate flavor for an IPA. More hops and bitterness showing up in the flavor. Bit of caramel malts and some dry bitter red peanut skins. Bitterness lingers for quite a while with a noticable alcohol presence that warms the mouth and makes the hops come more alive. This is a verty good IPA just not much really that sets it apart from others. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA Nov 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden/amber with a big foamy off white head. Aromas of citrus, earth, and grass. Flavor is citrus, pine, flowers, earthy, and a nice malty backbone. ChazMania (408), Pasadena, California, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottled poured into chilled pint glass. I think this might be my first beer from Mikkeller. I like it! It really does smell and taste like a west coast IPA. Good citrus taste with a nice texture. onecrazybreeze (21), , Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Poured amber with white foamy head. Smelled fresh, citrusy, slightly earthy and grassy. Tasted like citrusy hops with a slight funk to it. Was expecting something a little more hoppy and a little less funky. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Nov 19, 2008 11/05/2008: Mikkeller Stateside IPA has a golden/pale amber color, a foamy white to off-white head, and prolific lacing from top to bottom. A fresh citrusy, grassy, resin hoppiness greets the nose. It similar, but different from the NxNW Kodiak IPA as this one has more toffee maltiness. The flavor is very well-balanced with a good level of fresh hoppy flavor and bitterness complimented by tofee maltiness. This beer has a medium-light body and is very smooth on the palate. Overall this is another well-crafted IPA with a good level of bitterness and good aroama and flavor. However, it is nothing overly unique.
1 pt .9 fl. oz. bottle (7.0% Alc./Vol.) shared by Tmoney99 at the weekly Party Source gathering. Thanks again Tom! Rating #453 for this beer...
shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Nov 1, 2008 Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland Oregon. Melon orange color with a head of tight white bubbles. Aroma is resiny bitter hops but also something funky that a little off. The flavor is much same only without the noticeable funk that was carried in the aroma.
