Vas19 (293), Maryland, USA Oct 27, 2008 Pours amber with a thin white head. Nice toasty malt and floral hop aroma with a hint of honey. Flavor is more of the toasted malt and a strong bitter hoppiness. Slightly more bitter than I would like which I believe is hiding some of the flavor. Was expecting better. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Oct 27, 2008 Pours a pretty copper, amber with a small off-white head. Amazing aroma of all things American hoppy as well as honey and some sweet citrus scents. Very nice honey sweetness at first if still a little unbalanced with the huge hop bitterness. The variety of hops creates an interesting combined flavor, it’s very piney with an herbal bitterness. reakt (938), Greater London, England Oct 26, 2008 Bottle from BEERmerchants.com. Pours a hazed amber with a nice off white head, quite an attractive looking beer actually. Nose of sweet biscuity malts, caramel, flowers and piney, orange/grapefruit citrus hops, some slight honey notes also. As I walked away from the comp and took another sip, I caught a whiff of the red berries Ian mentioned. Taste is again, bitter, fruity citrus hops, pine, flowers and a sweet, malty caramel backbone. Great balance of bittersweetness and obviously well thought out...Lovely stuff! KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Oct 25, 2008 Bottle from Zinister, shared at the October Houston tasting. Thanks! Pours average amber with spotty head and lacing. Aroma is malty rose. Flavor is strong floral hops with a hollow finish. Average mouthfeel. Good beer, but it’s just ’’there.’’ cbeers21 (563), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2008 Hazy copper, booming head, looks great with lacing all over glass. Great aromatics, fruit applesauce, flowers and bittering hops backbrone provide solid foundation to the brew. Harmoniously balanced and provides sublime drinkability. Great malt presence. MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Oct 21, 2008 Bottle shared by zinister at October Houston tasting. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Nose is a floral hops. Taste is a sort of subdued, mellow citrus and malt. Mouthfeel is medium, but not bitter enough. StFun (535), Indiana, USA Oct 19, 2008 Very very nice brew. This is a great IPA. Dry finish, lots of hops, smooth and very drinkable. No overdoing the hops, no astringent alcohol in the flavor, no crazy texture, just a medium bodied brew thats full of hops and flavor. Nice yeast profile as well, it does a lot to back up the citrus hops. Notes of pine as well. Texture is slightly oily, but if that is my biggest complaint (and it is), then you know this is a hell of a brew. One of the best IPAs out there. TeamTrappist (367), jericho, New York, USA Oct 19, 2008 Bottle.Poured a slightly cloudy med amber. Very hoppy nose. Flavor was not quite as hoppy tasting as the nose would lead you to believe. Mildish flavor, somewhat true to the style with big bittering hop finish. Not my favorite style of beer, but my favorite version of the style so far.
