Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 17, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Degarth. Thanks again, Joe. Golden orange body with a huge, pillowy and fluffy beige head. Looks like suds from a bubble bath. Nose is tremendous and huge, full of grapefruits, lemons, spicy hops, pine, grass and caramel malts. A pleasure to smell for a while and pick out new things each time. Flavor doesn’t disappoint, brings all of the promised notes and with force. Very balanced in flavor, huge amounts of hop spice and citrus, but a wonderful toffee/caramel backing to really bring everything together. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Has a nice, style appropriate slick mouthfeel. Drinks very easily. Finish is medium length, bitter and full of citrus notes. A very "juicy" IPA. I really can’t find anything terribly wrong with this beer at all, and might have underrated it some. One of my favorite IPA’s in a while. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Nov 15, 2007 500 ml bottle, thanks to Drewbeerme. Pours clear medium amber with a small whitish head and a nice thick stream of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Nice IPA aroma, caramel and hints of marshmallow in the malts, crisp, fresh floral and citrus hops that become more dusty and pungent as they warm. Mellow biscuity and caramel malt character is complemented by bright but reasonable hops floral, spruce, citrus peel and a somewhat ashy-astringent finish and aftertaste. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Nice example of an IPA by our Danish friends. VikingHammer (362), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA Nov 14, 2007 Pour a hazy reddish orange hue with a diminishing off-white frothy head. Good lacing on my tulip glass. Pine aroma with hints of caramel. Lots of hops with a caramel malty finish. Dry medium body with soft carbonation. Nice IPA. Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 14, 2007 Updated: Mar 15, 2009Bottle. Orange color with fluffy off-white head. Aroma is bittersweet with notes of citrus fruits, sweet malt, orange-peel, caramel, flowers and some light salmiak notes. The taste is also bitter and sweet: grape, pine, caramel, orange-peel, sweet fruit, paracetamol?, liqourice and a bit of alcohol. The bitterness is a bit sharp and harsh.
Re-tested 090314 bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Nov 13, 2007 Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Aroma of citrus and pine. Golden amber color with a substantial white head. Thinnish body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is citrus and pine with caramel malt. The finish is nice bitter hop. It definitely has an effect on the mouth. Very tasty. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Nov 11, 2007 Bottle purchased from bottletrek.com. Denmark continues to amaze me. This "american" style IPA beats most IPA attempts here in the US. Pours orange with a big creamy head and a lot of lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine. Flavor is similiar with a nice balance of caramel malt. Nice hop bite and finish. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Excellent IPA and expensive. Slayer85 (582), Firenze, Italy Nov 10, 2007 Bottled. an unclear dark golden beer with a big, creamy and persistent beige head, leaving laces on the glass. Terrific appearence. the aroma is hoppy with fruity (mainly grapefruit) and flowery notes, Some vague hints of caramel in the background. The taste is very hoppy too, with clean flavours of grapefruit and a good amount of malt taht give the necessary sweetness. Medium body, average carbonation, with the mouthfeel that maybe is not so soft, but a really fantastic aromatic aftertaste that is really bitter, dry and long. This is a beer I could drink evry day. I love IPAs and i love this beer. bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 9, 2007 Bottle: Finally got my hands on a Mikkeller. (The bottle says this is an APA not an IPA.) Pours a cloudy orange with a a lasting, thick, frothy white head, strong aroma of American hops, hoppy taste but well balanced with a very smooth finish. Good stuff but not worth the price I had to pay to try it.
