OldGrowth (1407), North Carolina, USA Oct 28, 2007 Bottle. from Sam’s. Ok aroma, bittersweet. Citurs, Grapefruit, orange, lemon, lime, Honey, vanilla, butter creme, cardboard. Maybe an oxidized factor here. Clean brownish orange color, Good head that faded at a moderate pace to a ring, minor lacing. Bitter sweet flavor, like aroma, but Grapefruit is more pronounced, some caramel, cardboard. Thicker body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish that lingers. Good brew, though I wasn’t bowled over either. Maybe I was expecting more from it after so much talk about Mikkeller. beerbrat99 (119), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 27, 2007 Bottle. Decent hop aroma although some presence of DMS. Nice foam retention and lacing. Clean bitterness with creamy finish. Overall I was expecting a bit more hop character from this American style IPA from the famed Danish brewers. SSSteve (2045), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 27, 2007 pours a hazy orange color with a medium size frothy white head. citrus hop aroma. flavor is mostly citrus(lemon candy) and pine with nice herbal and mint notes. not huge on the malts. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Oct 27, 2007 This one isn’t so great. Very mild hop aroma and hop flavor, and light, sweet malt. Very dry throughout. It lacks flavor and aroma. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2007 Mmnn. Hops. Citrus hops on the nose of this cloudy orange beer. Bitter hop body with a solid hop finish. 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Oct 25, 2007 Pours a clear golden orangey amber with a fluffy head of off-white. Aromas are brash with citrusy west coast hoppiness along with a fair amount of pine. Strong bitter flavor with grapefruit rind and pine resins. Solid caramel backbone here. Lip-smacking stickiness. A lingering perfumey flair that tends to distract. A solid American IPA from Denmark, but the $9+ price tag for a bottle is a little steep for multiple revisits. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 25, 2007 I definitely dig this one. Flowery hops in the aroma with a hint of pine. Sticky mouthfeel. Some pine and citrus along with a mineral bitterness in the flavor. Mikkeler wins! eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Oct 25, 2007 Bottle. Pour was amber with some orangey hues, nice generous initial head, solid lacing. The aroma was fruity hops with some grain elements underneath. The flavor was barely ripe grapefruit and citrus rind notes, resin, all with a firm almost euro-noble super bitter hopping underneath and finishing quite strong. Melons and other similar fruits support the base flavors. A bitter little sucker, indeed, right on for the style, and indeed true to the stateside standards of such a concoction. Semi-dry finish, anything but malty strong.
