hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Oct 17, 2007 serious bitterness, and a seriously good ipa. Substantial shaving cream head, golden orange color, with a fine pine aroma. Hops come off way spicier than I was expecting looking at the hop bill. Regardless, there is a lot of spicyness in the hops, grapefruit bitterness at the end that lingers for a while. Extremely well done. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 17, 2007 Bottle thanks to hopson. Dark golden body, lasting off-white head tinged with gold, hoppy nose with a hint of honey. Body dominated by hops, with a firm bitterness and Amarillo spiciness. Some citrus in the finish. Malts are dryish. Very nice. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 16, 2007 50cL Danish bottling, 7%, dated 9/4/07.. thanks to sk8viking for the bottle! Poured healthy medium caramel with a towering cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up an intriguing and welcoming array of crisp lighter fruits, candy sweetness, and a bit of a sharp alcoholey bite right at the back. The flavor was centered around sweet candied fruits and lesser caramel with a solid floral, fruit, and pine hope bite around the edges.. the bottle is a little older, and the malt profile has stepped it up. Medium-bodied on the palate with a nice warm bitterness all around.. a little weak across the middle. Overall quite nice! MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Oct 16, 2007 Bottle. Clear orange color with a large head. Aroma of citrus, oily resin and tropical fruit hops with plenty of caramel malt. Floral-citrus taste with more than enough caramel to balance. Bitter finish. Oily texture.
Like the name says, it’s just another American IPA. Unquestionably the best I’ve had that wasn’t made in the US. johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Oct 15, 2007 Pours amber with fluffy white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and pine. Nice IPA with hops, citrus, and pine flavors throughout. Refreshing. LoveCaissa (873), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 14, 2007 Very fine American IPA with the trademark generous amounts of hops providing a great aroma with grass and grapes. Flavour is very fruity ending in a long and dry bitter finish (grapes, pines). Classic stuff! mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2007 Bomber. average frothy off-white head (fully dissapated after a min or two). clear amber body. aromas of hops (citrus and pine), and malts (light caramel). flavor is moderately bitter with a light sweetness that intermingles throughout. long sticky finish. dry textured. very impressive smoothness. heck of an ipa actually almost stong enough to be an imp ipa. OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 11, 2007 Bottle from Olbutikken, Copenhagen.
Pours with a nice if somewhat conventional cascade and amarillo nose, orange peel and pine, just a bit of must. It’
s very very dry, in a Stone ruinition vein. Lots of grapefruit pith and the malts have a nice caramel tone. But the beer tastes and feels 9% instead of the 7 at which it is listed. The flavors are intense, especially in the hop oils that linger on the tongue, you feel the alcohol thick and hot, there’s a chemical aspect to the overall flavor thatI find offputting. Certainly a success at brewing a big west-coast style dry IPA --- and yet I simply don’t see this one as a beer I’d want to drink readily. Of course given distribution, it isn’t one that I could have regularly even if I wanted to.
