drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2007 sample at WLV tasting w/ Mikkel. pours cloudy copper with creamy off white head. a nice piney hop nose. very dry and piney w/ slight citrusy hop flavors. a bit watery. very dry for an ipa. smooth carbonation. really nice stuff. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 8, 2007 Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a thick, frothy offwhite head. Aroma of pine needles with green hops. Solid flavor of spicy, piney and green hops with a bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 7, 2007 500ml from Sam’s, Durham. A very fine tribute beer, full and rich body, with a lovely golden hue and lustrous head. The hops are floral and not too aggressive, with some generous malting in the backing. Maybe not the most distinctive IPA out there, but very fine and easy drinking. hickey (32), Georgia, USA Oct 7, 2007 Great, great beer. Bottled at Olbarren. A little pricey though. Definitley a beer for hop lovers. True IPA with lots of flavor, complex to decribe as I am new to this.
Well worth the DKK 70. If you love IPA’s, this is your beer. badgerben (3584), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Oct 4, 2007 Copper color with a medium head. Nice citrusy and pine aroma. Dry malt taste. Definitely hoppy, but not screaming with hops and certainly a bit on the mild side for bitterness. More hop taste than punishing alpha acid. Some citrus on the finish. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Oct 3, 2007 Bottle. Aroma was predominately grassy hops. Some pine and citrus. Wisps of malt hiding in the background. Pours rich copper with a big, sticky white head. Flavor profile was initially quite dry. Lots of grassy hops, but not bracingly hoppy. Some hay. Wildflowers. A hint of sweet malt. Medium to full bodied. Good carbonation. Guerde (693), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Oct 2, 2007 (bottle thanks olso2116) Pours copper with an off-white head. Aroma initially smells like a fruit salad, but as the beer warms the hops dominate and are very citrusy. The flavor is a slight malt presence which is quickly washed away with a very bitter grapefruit peel hop finish that lasts quite awhile. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Deep copper pour with off-white head. Aroma of wet hops, caramel malt, some spicy florals and a hefty black and Bell pepper aroma. The palate is hoppy, medium heft, with well balanced malt and hops, giving a lot of hop flavor, plus a lot of mid-palate peppery notes, and some finishing floral notes. Stays very hoppy throughout. Reminds me of a Sly Fox varietal quite a bit.
