Commercial Description:
Earlier batches brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
A love of American microbrews is the inspiration behind this IPA, brewed with generous amounts of aromatic, American hops, which provide the significant freshness and bitterness with lots of citrus notes. The taste sensations are nicely balanced by the sweetness from the caramel malt.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pilsner, munich and caramunich), flaked oats, hops (chinook, cascade and amarillo) and ale yeast.

Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy amber color ale with a huge foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of floral hops is quite intense and enjoyable with some piney and citrusy notes. Taste is dominated by bitter and citrus hops with some clear piney notes as well as some great caramel malt to sustain all those hops. Body is full with some great carbonation. Probably one of the best west coast IPA outside of the West coast.

Poured an amber-gold. Incredibly floral hop aroma, with some light caramel and...cedar? Tastes sweet and flowery, with some burnt caramel, bitter lingering cedar, and flowers. There’s a bit of a wood aftertaste. This is one of the most unique hop characteristics I’ve ever experienced in a beer.

Cloudy glowing dirty dark-orange body topped by a small but long-lasting beige head. Large amount of juicy foresty hops swim over some sweet juicy caramel. The malt profile has this rye edge to it. Very well malted full body and I find that the malt profile has a rye edge to it. Some unfocussed fruity flavours in the back with a pleasant yeast presence. Juicy bitterness of medium intensity. Not the most complex IIPA but man is it effective! Not called Stateside for no reason, this beer is very American-inspired indeed. Knowing that Danes drink that beer is the greatest example of the American influence reach next to a Dane fat-ass eating at McDonald’s.

Hazy muddy amber-orangeish hue, with a thick beige head, leaving laces, nice piney hop nose, with a resiny, oily, juicy hop accent, with some coniferous, and faint cedary notes, hint of orange peel fruitiness, with some toasted malts in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice toasted malt coming first, with a good flowery hop character, with some piney, grassy, citrus floral hop bitterness, with a fruity peachy note, a subtle mintiness, leading towards a well hoppy finish.

Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of tropical fruit pear, pine, and floral hops, with a bit of toffee as well. Taste of pine, caramel malts, nuts, citrus, and grapefruit bitterness in the finish.

My Bottom Line:
Pine resins, plush oranges and peachy caramel achieve lip-licking balance in this gorgeous pint of healthily unfiltered coniferous American-style IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Foam towers above the muddy fiery orange red.
-The frothy carbonation lifts the well-extracted maltiness.
-This is very drinkable, very flavorful but never aggressive.
-Bready yeast accompanies the peppery pine needles in the back.
-Caramel builds into toffee once the beer ages a bit, as hops take a step back. This is still a mighty fine IPA after a year.

Bottle; no date.

Bottle shared at DLD while waiting in line in front of some generous Danes - Pours amber with a fair tan head. Aroma of floral and pine over some caramel malts. Flavor included much pine a little grapefruit, caramel, and some spice. Good light palate with ample carbonation. Quite tasty...
