altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 3, 2009 Bottle from Bierkoning. Luminous amber body with nutty, rocky head. Wonderful hoppy nose that is very American. Very prickly mouthfeel. Taste of hops, pine and lots of grapefruit. Also has malty and caramel notes in the finish. Wonderful, as always from this brewer. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 2, 2009 Bottle., Pours an nice shimmery amber. Aromas of resiny sticky piney hops. Taste is well balanced.Notes of caramel, pine, grapefruit. Another nice offering from Mikkeller jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Apr 2, 2009 Bottle@Home. Grapefruit and grass aroma. Light hazy, amber, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, very bitter, very very grassy, citrus. Harsh dry and a bit thinnish. Too harsh and one dimensional for me. NoiZe (1289), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands Apr 1, 2009 Orange, amber colored brew. Nice hoppy aroma. Flavor is hoppy too, some pine, citric and medium bitterness. Could use some more balance. Muggus69 (500), Sydney, Australia Mar 31, 2009 500ml bottle. BB 15/10/10?
Served chilled in a mug.
Pours a hazy amber body with a creamy offwhite foam that leaves good lace in its wake.
Resiny nose full of hops. Plenty of pine, cedar and spice, grapefruit rind and unripe melon in the mix. Malt body seems to be a bit of an afterthought, slight caramel leaks through with warmth.
Big body, sticky texture, moderate carbonation. Somewhat of an enslaught of hop bitterness manifests itself straight away and holds on for the entire ride.
A hint of nutty toffee malt begins what is the hop show from then on. Leafy, grassy, woody, piney hop character for the most part. Slight hints of green/unripe fruit and citrus rind make an appearance but without too much coherence and are a bit on the harsh side. Finishes with a peppery note of alcohol and lingering assertive bitterness.
Quite a decent AIPA, maybe a bit brutal straightup. After trying All Others Pale, I really don’t rate this nearly as highly. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Mar 30, 2009 Hazy copper with a creamy tan head that fades and laces well. Nose of alcohol and pine. Hoppiness is just at the end, with a lot of malty smoothness, sweet caramel, with just a dry moderaltely bitter finish. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Mar 29, 2009 hazy orange, small off white head, nice lace. citrus, pine, caramel nose. flavor follows nose, pine and caramel. medium body, light bitter finish. an interesting is not exciting ipa... i detect a sort of sweetish aftertaste. gam (1068), brisbane, Australia Mar 29, 2009 Good carbonation big frothy head with apricot amber misty pour good look aroma stonefruit citrus apricot note lemon flavour citrus bitter like rind peach apricot malt taste light caramel bitter IPA has a very bitter side to it and the fruit flavour is counted out in a way by the bitter malt is not strong to even things out to a liking okay beer but they over did the bitter that is the finish also
