thornecb (975), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Mar 31, 2008 Pours bright copper into a shaker. Fluffy head leaves spot lacing as it recedes to skim surface and hug rim. Caramel and pine aromas. Crisp with upfront grapefruit, vanilla middle and a lasting resin finish.
FlssmrBrewAlum (168), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Jul 25, 2008 22 oz bottle from Binny’s (Orland Park, IL). Pours a darker hazed amber with prominent white fluffy head that is sticking around very well. Aromas are largely citrusy hops with a nice floral bouquet feel complimented by a touch of malty sweetness. Initial is bitter up front, floral and grapefruit, that lingers but makes way to a bit of a surprising sweet malty back end (a touch of sweet fruits? bubblegum? hard candy?). Underwhelming. Finishes a bit dry and bitter, but intertwined with the sweetness, which wins a couple vindication points. A few interesting qualities, drinkable, but still a bit overrated beer. sebletitje (147), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Tony @ OTH.
Pours amber/orange.
Aroma is lightly hoppy and caramel malt.
Taste is filled with caramel malt, and lightly fruity.
Didn’t find anything special about this IPA. dmac (799), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle purchased at Spirits Red Bank. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a good size frothy off white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops that is quite bitter and a good dose of caramel to balance it out. Flavor has lots of hops, especially citrus, but is more flavorful then bitter and quite enjoyable. I enjoyed this beer but not sure if I would get a beer made to taste like an American IPA when I can just buy thr real thing far cheaper. bdigi66 (408), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle: WTF Mikkeller...I’m sorry but I’m becoming more and more disappointed with this brewery each time I try something different from them, and this is no different. Blah, blah, blah, pale orange, blah, blah. Piney and floral hops, blah, blah, which translates into the flavor. Neither balanced nor smooth, nor enticing in any regard. Come on guys! chrisafari (54), Orange, California, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle from Vendome Liquor, Fullerton Ca. Pours rich amber orange with a fluffy/creamy tan head. Sweet aroma of hops/citrus/floral. Flavor begins mellow and easy, then becomes nice and hoppy. The flavor develops from a fresh hoppiness into a smooth carmel malt finish. The last sensation is a kick of a dry hoppy throat. Nice lacing throughout. Overall a good IPA in the American style. Well done, but a little pricey.
