3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is loaded by caramel and followed by citrus hoppiness, maybe an undertones of green, dunk, bitterness. Not a great aroma but reaspnably Clean. Caramel maybe overpowering the test, but that’s it. Deep amber with a Lovely dark white head, persistent. Aroma is what you can aspect Afther the nose : sweet caramel, a little Kick by hop, some citrus notes. Maybe is a fresh beer, not so powerfull but Clean. It’s perfectly balanced by malt sweetness and little hop bitterness, but maybe you can expected other hop notes. Orange zest and tangerine is present, for sue, but the finish is dry. Extremely dry, with an average carbonation. Thin mouthfeel, light to medium body. Good.

330 ml bottle from Gallagher’s Beer World/El Irlandés. Pours an opaque and cloudy tawny color with a medium to big off-white head that diminishes slowly leaving a thin lingering film. Aroma is intensely hoppy, citrusy and pungent. Dominant notes include lime, lemon zest, clean fresh herbs, lemongrass and some peppermint. Nice, it clears your sinuses with a beautiful fragrance. It’s just a bit simple... straight-forward. Taste is quite bitter, but not extreme. Citrusy flavors abound giving nice, refreshing astringency. Almost zero sweetness but I can perceive some malty notes combining with the hops to create hints of pear and orange flavors. Very assertive! The finish and aftertaste are surprisingly mild, though. Medium body, smooth and oily texture. Medium to high, fizzy, carbonation. Sessionable, highly drinkable and very refreshing India Pale Ale.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: slightly hazy pale amber with two fingers of rocky ivory head, excellent retention and moderate patchy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: citrus, caramel, tropical fruit, dank and earthy. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (8/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter finish. (4/5)
Nice. Well-balanced, with lots of starts-with-C hop character trading off against the smooth caramel of the malt base. Despite the high IBU, the bitterness never overwhelms, yet the malt stays where it should be, supporting rather than taking centre stage. I still can’t figure out, though, what black magic Mikkeller wields, to have a two year shelf life for a highly hopped A/IPA - I dunno whether I’m impressed or disturbed. Maybe both? (16/20)
