3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ungstrup (26267) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAY 23, 2006
[Yet another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 6100] My version is the first batch and it is bottled. An unclear dark orange-red beer with a huge dense orange head - I also had it draft from one of the newer batches which was totally murky, this would be a 2 in appearance. The aroma is lovely grassy with loads of grapefruit and flowers. The flavor is sweet and starts out fruity combined with caramel, but quite early the hops comes into play giving it notes of grapes and grapefruit, which in turn gives way to notes of grass. The end is long lasting deleciously hoppy bitter and with notes of grapefruit lingering for a long time. I like the single hopped MIkkeller IPA’s better, but I think this suits the broader market better, and it is still a very fine beer.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 yespr (26042) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAR 1, 2007
50 cL bottle. Orange/red with very little head. Very flowery aroma of chinook, cascade and amarillo. Sweet and hoppy taste with a long lasting bitterness. The balance is this beer is fantastic, I assume it is 3 malts that is making this happen.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 5, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a hazy amber with a creamy, yellowish beige head. Fruity, hoppy aroma - some pineapple perhaps?? Fat and oily mouthfeel. Good, full body with some sweetish caramel accents -but I really miss some grapefruit notes here. A very decent IPA all right, but not as clean, crisp and fresh as some of Mikkellers single hop IPAs - Chinook for instance. 050506

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2010 Cloudy/unclear golden amber with fine white head. Aroma of hops. Taste of many different hops & malts. Little sweetness. Incredibly filling texture-almost creamy. Finish has a fine dominant bite from bitter hops. Bravo! Tap @ Carlsens, March 2010. Amazing. Everything stands out on its own. Soooo Tasty! 4,0 again and perhaps closer to 4,1
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - SEP 16, 2006
UPDATED: JUL 29, 2011 2011-06-02, bottle, bb 06xx10, 7-4-7-4-15=37 Cloudy amber color; small creamy head. Having lost all the freshness, it’s still a good beer with fudge aroma and toffee flavor, good body and mouthfeel, strong bitterness, some hop oils and hop resins, light liquorice too in the end, also salty, and no unpleasant trait, even after a few years.
2008-08-14, bottle, 8-5-8-5-17=43 Hazy copper color, generous head, thick. Powerful yet balanced hop aroma, fruity, creamy and a bit resiny. Very good toffee flavor, even if drier than I would like, with a powerful hopping. The bitterness is a crescendo, from the beginning where it balances the toffee, till the end where it reigns, with good hop oils and some resins, living within a dry mouthfeel. The bitterness in the long run brings to mind some roasted nuts. Excellent.
2008-05-10, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 7-5-8-5-16=41 Copper color. Maybe also because of the disappointment today with other beers, I have to acknoledge that this beer is very well brewed. Nice hop aroma (earthy, fruity and resiny); good dry caramel flavor and strong hopping; and let’s use good hops!
2006-05-20, draught at Copenhagen Beerfestival 2006, 9-5-8-5-17=44 Cloudy amber color. Deep aroma, hoppy, fruity, resiny. Medium body strength, full malt flavor, extremely bitter, resiny. Will be even better with some aging, but it’s so nice to taste it fresh from the keg..
