Bottle 50 cl. Lightly hazy reddish amber with an off-white head. Overripe fruit in the nose, lightly tart, lightly oxidized. Quite full-bodied, a little low in carbonation, overripe fruit, Sherry accents, somewhat oxidized, plums and walnuts with a warming alcohol finish. Very complex and very interesting. 100211

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of dusty hops, alcohol, straw, yeast, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, fruit, metal, caramel, and yeast, leading to a dry and alcoholic finish.

1/15/11. Bottle shared by blazer06 at the Sea Bass tasting. Yeasty sweet dark fruit aroma with a very sweet, almost sour flavor loaded with dark fruits, molasses, and more. Nice!

Tasted at the big “SeaBass has got to go” tasting courtesy Blazer06. It pours hazy copper with gold edges and off white head. It has a sweet dark fruity aroma with sweet black currants and blackberry to go along with chocolate, a sense of molasses and heat at the end of the draw. The taste is similar with rich dark fruitiness mixing with molasses, muted smooth spicy yeast, rich sweet black currants, tart currant skins and then thin boozy molasses pleasingly coating the palate into the finish. There’s only a slight sense of the ABV.

Thanks to blazer06 for the share at the So Long to Sea Bass Tasting. While I can’t write in French, I hope I can do proper justice in English. Pours red-orange with a nice whitish head. Nose is some sugar, dates, dark fruit, candy, and Belgian yeast character. Flavor does not lend itself to Belgian yeast as much as its namesake, but the impact is still there. Dates, candy sugar, fruit, and esters all appear. Finish lingers with sugar and yeast in this medium-bodied beer.

Bottle @ Seabass going away party, Jan15th ’11. Huge cheers to Blazer06 for opening this ’07 gem.
