Thanks to yespr for that one. Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, huge head. Starts quite sour, intense fruity notes of cherries. Finish less sour, also some sweet notes in the background. But a bit unbalanced and so not too drinkable. Had better Mikkellers.

bottle from dranken Geers, dark reddish coloured with very small white head. Cherry, woody smell. Taste: maybe some great fruity cherry .. Ooh, I didn’t expect such a good one! Why are they retired?

Pours with almost no head. Pours a cloudy reddish brown. This is quite a strange taste, though not unpleasant. Doesnt feel like a 10 percent beer.

Cloudy red brown beer, residual off white head. Light palate, semi dry. Moderate carbonation. Tart medicinal toned Worcester Sauce! Some paradoxical sweet notes. A little cherry underneath. Finishes dry with a lingering tart aftertaste. Very drinkable.

500 ml bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of apple cider vinegar, carmel and light toffee. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a lightly tart finish. Flavors of carmel, toffee, apple cider vinegar and cinnamon with a crisp dry lightly tart lingering funky spiced finish.

Flaske 0,5l spandert av Rune og delt med ham under rateseanse i WCveien 4 Okt 12. Gyldenbrun. Middels høyt skum som fester seg til glasset. Syrlig fruktaroma. Gjæret kirsebær. Smaken veldig fruktig. Litt syrlig. Avslutter svakt bittert.

Bottle. Pours hazy red amber with a minimal off white head. Aroma is caramel malt, butterscotch, balsamic, funk, over ripe fruits, acetone and oak. Taste is moderate sweet and sour. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes with a balsamic sour burn deep in the throat. The most sweet sour I’ve had so far I think.

Have tried 3 of these now, pours dark ruby amber colour, minimal head. Smells funky with sour dark fruits and vinegar. tastes sour cherry fruity up front, some roasted flavours and really tart throughout. A good smelly cheese beer.

Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a deep nutty brown murky body with a small white head. Nose is terpentine, wood, balsamico, sour red berries and hints of apple peel. Taste is lactic vinegar-tart wood and red berry tones, grape-like sweetness and hints of figs and deep malts. Complex and nice. Full body, medium carbonation. Weird in its own way, and very tart but also very enjoyable.

I met this beer with few expectations. Overall Mikkeller cranks out some good products. The obstacle is typically the price point. Whatever the reason even a 12 ounce bottle is at the high end of what I normally would pull the trigger on. This particular release is a passable sour yet nothing special.

Aroma / Appearance - The beer pours a deep reddish brown with an opaque base. There is no head retention at all. Cherry pie, vinegar, and traces of superglue mix the expected with the unusual. Put together it reminds me of a slightly overdone blackberry cobbler.

Flavor / Palate - Vinegar and acetone provide the sour kickstart. Blackberry cobbler and cherry pits try to provide some balance. The tart mouthfeel is acidic but not in the same way that an American sour or lambic chews at the throat. This is reasonable but loses a point or two for the high price.
