On tap at Mikkeller & Friends in Copenhagen CBC-week. I liked this beer, it’s weird and complex. At first you get punched by the heavy hitting black malts, which is uplifted by the fresh and fruity cherry-sourness.

Tap @ Mikkeller, Stefansgade. Nice head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are too peaty, ashy and just totally misunderstood. islay will never be my thing.

tiong (4010) - Espoo, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2014
Draught @ Mikkeller & Friends, Copenhagen

Pours pitch black with a smooth brown head. Aroma of peaty malts, smoke, spices, tart cherries, wood, charcoal and tar. Taste is quite weird mix of a very peaty islay whiskey and a tart cherry sour ale with spices. Finish is surprisingly balanced though. Not sure if I like this or not.

Tap @ Mikkeller & Friends.
Pours dark red color with a small head. Peat and tar on the nose with malts and burnt wood also. Peaty flavor, malts, some cherry notes and some wood. A bit harsh and not very pleasant.

laiti (5954) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2014
Draught @ Mikkeller & Friends. Aroma is sweet and strong on islay whisky notes; licorice, vanilla, peat etc. Flavour is oversweet with woody tones, peat, some vanilla and more peat. The kriek shows up as some tartness. Interesting combination - I expected this to be worse. Not a beer I would have everyday but not bad still. Very woody and peaty at the end of the glass.
