Draft at Mikkeller BKK. This was some thick shit, especially for ABV! Smell is full on Islay Scotch, hiding anything else going on, maybe a hint of cherry. Flavor is roasty sweet malts up front, a hint of coffee in there, then a lovely little blast of fresh cherries - not sour, not sweet, just fresh cherry. Kinda crazy. Extra point for that one. Finish is back to the full on Islay Scotch, and goddamn does it linger. I found this surprisingly thin though for some reason and somehow, otherwise it would’ve been a 4 for sure.

Black in color, light tan... Aroma is super smoky... Flavor is extremely bizarre, tart and sweet up front, gives way to smoke, charcoal and sausage on the palate... Notes of coffee and cherries... Weird ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Some really complex and unique stuff. Spicy pepper, a bit of booze, lots of tart cherry, smoke. Full on flavor assault. Body is a bit thin and there is a wierd carbonation going on. Overall a pretty tasty beer.

Draught. Pours black with a creamy brown medium head. Aroma is peat, toasted malt, molasses, ash, roasted malt, cherries, wood and some iodine. Taste is medium sweet, bitter and near medium sour. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes dark roasted, cherry sour, tart wood, peat and a toned down chili-burn.Temperature affects the balance between the sour and the malty components greatly. This is one craaazy beer.

20-MAR-2013, draft @Mikkeller, with Erik. Black with low brown head. Whisey and smoked aroma. Taste is smoked, peated, roast, burnt malt. Chili is a late starter. Cherries as well but they are both there. Full body. Really a messy drink but all the messy flavors are favorites, so I am happy...:-)

Papsoe (25094) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 22, 2012
On tap. Pours an opaque black with a creamy, light brown head. Weird chemical aroma, plenty of iodine and tar with a discreet whiff of berries. Medium-bodied, heavy roast plenty of metal and a distinct sourness. Heavy on the iodine, asjy and again quite tart. A very challenging beer - like drinking blood! 111112
