3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Picked this bottle up at Connecticut Avenue in DC. Served in a Cantillon tulip.
Pours black with a really nice tan head--very cream with good spotty lacing and a really thick collar. The nose is slightly roasted with a nice chipotle afterburn. Slight roasted malt character underneath. The taste, however, is all chipotle on the first sip. Pretty intense. Nothing too terrible or wrong with it other than that it is not really balanced out by roasted malt, chocolate, or anything else. This is just quite one-dimensional. Finish has a bit of actual chipotle taste with some burn in the finish. Medium body with little balance. Okay, but I think they could have made this much better.

Aroma- huge roasty, smoky, bit of dark chocolate
Apperance-pouring very dark with brown head, very sexy
Taste-smoky, chili chocolaty flavour coming through. spiciness & bitterness grow in the middle of the journey. slight spicy flavour stays behind and builds up as I drink
Palate-medium body, mellow, creamy
Overall, this is amazing! definitely I’ll be drinking this in front of fire place.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled @ RBWG courtesy of Sparky27. Thanks Eric!!! This one might have done better had it not been beside Chipotle Speedway. Near coal pour produced a solid dark khaki head. Lots of cayenne, chili, smoke, roast, and chipotle...but too much. The base beer just doesn’t seem to be able to support the incredibly strong flavors. Either the pepper needs to be more subtle or the other flavors more robust.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep dark brown head. Opaque black body with strong carbonation. Roasty chocolatey aroma with smoky resiny notes. Dry-sweetish burnt chocolate and chili taste with smoky notes. Fizzy sharply hot mouthfeel. Light body. Dryish resiny burnt aftertaste with chocolatey chili notes. Not bad, but so hot and spicy the flavour is hidden in the background. 4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Black in color with a tan, frothy, bubbly head. Lacing holds very well on the side of the glass. Strong coffee and chocolate aromas. No hops pop out in the smell. Definite spicy kick hits the back of your throat instantly. Very smooth black coffee flavor with a chocolatey texture. A full-bodied beer that leaves your taste buds working overtime. Overall i think spice and a malty beer go very well together. This is the type of beer i am always looking for. YUMMY!!!!!
