Rather impressive, the porter element of thing definitely holds up the front end with some slightly smokey, roasted/chocolate malt sweetness, and the finish has some lingering spice that turns up a notch after a bit. It gets to be a bit too spicy, and I say this as someone who has eaten ghost chilies and whole habanero peppers. Still very good, but glad I had 2 friends to share with.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and light hoppy nice aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Alas too much chili. I hate chili in beer!. Long moderate bitter burning finish. Improoves with chocolate I must admit. Creamy palate.

Big smokey chocolate nose with a little it of burn. Smooth up front, but the chipotle spice catches you on the tail end . Finishes like a black permanent marker.

Bottle. Very dark black and a darker tan head. Roasty and earthy, bit of chocolate in the aroma. Chocolate is the clear flavor at first, bit of heat from the chilis at the back of the palate/throat. Pasture-like earthy flavor as well. Thicker body and warming. OK, but not amazing.

Picked this bottle up at Connecticut Avenue in DC. Served in a Cantillon tulip. Pours black with a really nice tan head--very cream with good spotty lacing and a really thick collar. The nose is slightly roasted with a nice chipotle afterburn. Slight roasted malt character underneath. The taste, however, is all chipotle on the first sip. Pretty intense. Nothing too terrible or wrong with it other than that it is not really balanced out by roasted malt, chocolate, or anything else. This is just quite one-dimensional. Finish has a bit of actual chipotle taste with some burn in the finish. Medium body with little balance. Okay, but I think they could have made this much better. dark brown body with a huge medium tan head that rises about 5 fingers, great retention and ok lacing... awesome aroma of chili peppers, ash, smoke... taste is very smokey with some a hot bite, hot and spicy finish, almost too hot for me... this needs to be smaller bottles

Aroma- huge roasty, smoky, bit of dark chocolate Apperance-pouring very dark with brown head, very sexy Taste-smoky, chili chocolaty flavour coming through. spiciness & bitterness grow in the middle of the journey. slight spicy flavour stays behind and builds up as I drink Palate-medium body, mellow, creamy Overall, this is amazing! definitely I’ll be drinking this in front of fire place.

enjoyed during 2011 RBWG pours brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is smoke, caramel, vegetal notes. Flavor is carmale malt sweetness with a nice peppery finish and chilli pepper flavor.

Sampled @ RBWG courtesy of Sparky27. Thanks Eric!!! This one might have done better had it not been beside Chipotle Speedway. Near coal pour produced a solid dark khaki head. Lots of cayenne, chili, smoke, roast, and chipotle...but too much. The base beer just doesn’t seem to be able to support the incredibly strong flavors. Either the pepper needs to be more subtle or the other flavors more robust.
