Dark brown/black color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, coffee, & spice; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, and chili peppers; Finish is fairly hot; Nicely balanced; Overall, the peppers are well integrated and not over the top - I enjoyed it.

Black pour, tan head, decent lace/retention. Aroma has notes of chocolate, light roast, moderate to low pepper (the spicy one, not the one next to salt), light vanilla, light smoke, some bourbon. Yes, there’s quite a bit going on here. Medium bodied, fairly dry.

23.08.2013. 0,33l Bottle. Vinmonopolet Haugesund. Black colour with dark brown head. Oily and thick like bitumen!! Intense aroma of dry bitter dark chocolate malt. Strong chilli flavour. Sharp bitterness and sharp strong burning chilli gives a brew that kicks ass! just gets better, but my throuth burns! Oh jesus lord!

Bottle purchased from Vinmonopolet, Norway. Pours pitch black, with a dark beige head that stays a little while and leaves some lacing. Nice aroma of roasted malts and coffee, with a hint of hot spices. Mouthfeel is quite creamy. Flavour is dark chocolate and roasted malts, with quite a strong aftertaste of chili. It wouldn’t seem a good match on paper, but it’s surprisingly pleasant. Very tasty and complex enough beer. Thumbs up.

Pours pitch black with brown medium head. Aroma of coffee, spices, liquorice and burned grass. Taste of chocolate, espresso, wood, chili, pepper and smoke. Could be a little more chili in it to get more flavour than just a dry bitterness.

From a 12.7oz bottle. Pours jet black with a thick tan to medium brown head. It has a light aroma which is of malt with hints of chocolate and coffee. The palate is surprisingly thin for a porter of this opacity. It is medium light bodied with very moderate carbonation. Taste is interesting, the chiplotle spiciness is relatively subdued (a good thing). Tastes primarily of malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, with less bread-like flavor than a normal porter. Very light if any hop bitterness. This finish has the slight lingering sweetness of the malt but primarily dominated by the mild burnt coffee-like roasted malt bitterness and a slight, but lingering spiciness of the chipotle. Not bad but not great. There is no alcohol heat to the flavor which is understandable for only 6.5ABV. A surpassingly low ABV for this brewer, effectively making this a Mikkeller session beer. Not a bad porter, but then I had low expectations. A good, but not great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
