3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle] shared by Armin. Thanks! Pours tarry black with a large head of big bubbles. Aroma is smoky, moderately roasty and ashy, and the pepper is in the background. Flavor is nicely roasty, perfect amount of pepper spiciness hiding behind the smoke. Finish is a nice lingering heat and roast.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is the Chipotle Porter version I received from madbeerbaron in a trade. Thanks again! Pours a completely opaque, very dark brown, with a well-retaining khaki-brown colored head. The head is reminiscent of a root beer float. Dark chocolate, cocoa, and licorice on the nose, with a bit of char wafting out as well. No chili notes to speak of. The mouthfeel is thick, but not viscous. A lot of smoke in the flavor. Chili pepper is noted very clearly. Sweet malt in the middle. Finishes with a charred flavor.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ Pingvinen, Bergen. Pours an almost perfect black, with a fingerthick creamy and coloured head. Like a proper stout should. And, …what? Not a stout? But the aroma is nice burned malts, with coffee, chocolate and toffee notes. The body is nicely creamy, with a soft carbonation. And the flavour is sweet with burned malts, coffee, chocolate and… Hmmm, black pepper. And chili. Yes, lots of chili, and it’s getting hotter and hotter throughout the finish. Someone might argue that it’s a bit over the top with all this perppery chili? Well maybe not your average stout, but it sure kicks hard and strong for a 6,6 ABV. Nice one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 from Greens. Beautiful black pour with a thick dark brown head. Decent lacing and retention. Aroma was creamy milk chocolate, smoke and a decent chipotle presence. Flavors were super smoky, light cocoa with a long lingering peppery finish. Light heat. Creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation. A nicely done chipotle brew.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee with notes of chocolate. Flavor is intense, surprised this isn’t a stronger beer. Strong roasted coffee bitterness mellowed out with a sweet dark chocolate finish. Finish was fairly mild then there’s just a slight pepper bite in the finish. Smokey throughout and aftertaste is rich but not cloying. Impressive beer, well worth finding.

Bottle from some where in NoVa - pours cola with big chocolate head some . Aroma is smokey with the hint of jalapeño. Taste is smokey with the warmth of the jalapeño as you drink it down. Nice, but the spice is pretty subtle..

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Shared this bottle with people in line at the CBS release. Poured from a 750ml into my Deschutes snifter.
A: Pours a dark brown with a nice khaki head and leaves a webbed lace down the glass.
S: Smells of green peppers, a little chocolate and a little malt bill. The pepper is dominated which I expected.
T: The taste blows the smell out of the water. A great smokiness is present first and foremost. The spice from the chipotle gives it a great kick and there is a green paper freshness that is great. There is a slight sweet chocolate on the backend that really rounds it out.
M: Refreshing and spicy, medium bodied with a nice carbonation.
O: The nose wasn’t too inviting but the taste more than made up for it. Very well balanced. The best pepper beer out there.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My bottle said Chipotle Porter. OK, but not great. Some hints of heat but really no chile flavor. Didn’t get much Porter roastiness either. Maybe these chile beers aren’t for me despite growing up on the things here in Tejas. I didn’t care for Rogue’s either.
