Pours an opaque black colour with a couple fingers of light brown head quickly turning into a healthy ring around the glass and spotty. Aromas of chipotle pepper, chocolate. Flavours of chipotle peppers, chocolate, mocha, decent spicy balance.

Rating #930 - January 20, 2014 - $8.00CAD for 12 oz. at #mondaynightbeers at the Underground Tap & Grill - Opaque dark brown/black pour with a bubbly head that fades quickly. Aroma is toasted oak, chocolate, espresso. Mild carbonation, medium-heavy alcohol warmth (could be the heat-heat). Palate is more chocolatey roasty malt, and a fiery chipotle heat. Rip-roaring spicy stout. Fantastic. Sessionable only for heat freaks I’m sure at 6.6%

Bottle to pint glass. Aroma of chocolate, toasted malt, cereal, straw, and sawdust. Thick black with a creamy brown head. The taste is of smoke, chipotle, and pine. Medium to heavy bodied, creamy and acidic.

big bottle. Pours black with a big brown head. Nose is of chocolate and smoke. Taste starts off with chocolate and ash, then the chili peppers become more and more noticeable over time. Mouthfeel is medium with a dry and spicy finish. Very interesting.

Kronebryg (1087) - Sorgenfri, DENMARK - JAN 16, 2012
Draft at YNWA: Fine light brown head, lasting, colour is black. Light elegangt nose were the chili is only vaguely evident. A bit dissapointing as it is light with some chockolate pudding. Medium body and long burning taste. nice soft entry with some chockolate and bitternes and then BANG - the chili hits you. Weird and fine that I dont have to try it againe...

On tap @ Pingvinen, Bergen. Pours an almost perfect black, with a fingerthick creamy and coloured head. Like a proper stout should. And, …what? Not a stout? But the aroma is nice burned malts, with coffee, chocolate and toffee notes. The body is nicely creamy, with a soft carbonation. And the flavour is sweet with burned malts, coffee, chocolate and… Hmmm, black pepper. And chili. Yes, lots of chili, and it’s getting hotter and hotter throughout the finish. Someone might argue that it’s a bit over the top with all this perppery chili? Well maybe not your average stout, but it sure kicks hard and strong for a 6,6 ABV. Nice one.

Part of the 2014 Mikkeller LCBO feature. The beer pours a dark brown with black edges and a dark brown creamy cap. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses and peppers. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, sweet chocolate, coffee, and a definite chipotle pepper note. A very good beer.

This is the Chipotle Porter version I received from madbeerbaron in a trade. Thanks again! Pours a completely opaque, very dark brown, with a well-retaining khaki-brown colored head. The head is reminiscent of a root beer float. Dark chocolate, cocoa, and licorice on the nose, with a bit of char wafting out as well. No chili notes to speak of. The mouthfeel is thick, but not viscous. A lot of smoke in the flavor. Chili pepper is noted very clearly. Sweet malt in the middle. Finishes with a charred flavor.
