4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On keg at Brewdog, pours as a thick textured black imperial stout, with chocolate malts, toasted coffee, chilli, smoked vegetable, all coming together well in a smooth finish. Excellent beer, unusual because of the thick velvety finish for a 6.6%.

Draft @Local Option’s ASS MAKEOVER event. Pours dark dark brown with some light at the edges, super tight light brown head, great retention. Aroma is smoke, salt, dry chili peppers, dark chocolate, espresso, brine, leather. Taste is green hops, intense "hot" spiciness in back of the throat, smoke, espresso, burn, burnt wood, dry chili, chocolate, leather. Body is full, creamy, low carbonation, very dry spicy/hot finish with tons of leather. Overall, uniqe and delcious; my first "hot" beer.

Bottle. Thanks Kyle!! Pours nearly solid black with a half finger mocha head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate upfront. Lots of cigarette aromas and smoke. Some spice, molasses and oatmeal. Initial flavor is completely different from the aroma. I get chalk and chili pepper immediately. Cigarette like finish with hints of dark chocolate. Plenty of heat, but not too much. Chalky mouth feel, medium body.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours pitch black with a frothy, creamy, brownish head
Aroma is roasted malts, caramel and hints of booze.
Taste is roasty with hints of caramel and coffee at first then giving way to the soft burn of hot chillies. Finish is slightly bitter with lasting burn from the chili.
Palate is close to full and softly carbonated.

It pours DARK chocolate brown with fluffy tan-orange head. Smokey aromas chocolate, barbecue and alcohol. Nice flavors of mocha and chili. It’s full bodied, a little slick and moderately carbed. The burn sticks in your throat so be ready. DELICIOUS

Dark in appearance, with a strange hue in the head -- interesting. Nice smokey/pepper test that comes back to bite you with a spicy aftertaste. Not what a beer should taste like, but worth a try.

On tap The Rover, Göteborg. Dark Brown, almost black. Aroma of dark chocolate. Taste real spicy (chili) but still it is a stout with bitterness in the finish. Really good, but i am not sure if i can separate this one from Mikkeller Hot Rod.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Before this I had only tried the bourbon barrel version which was quite a disappointment to me. The normal version goes a lot further. It smells great of coffee, dark chocolates and cookies without any real sweetness to it. The body is medium to light and actually feels refreshing. A lot of cold coffee comes though with some spices and a lingering warming sensation of chili that works quite well with the beer.

Bottle@Håndverkerstuene. Black with a thick, creamy brown head. Good amount of sticky lace. A lot of smoke in the aroma, almost sour smoke, along with nuts, dry cocoa, and some bready notes. A lot of spiciness on the tongue, some chocolate and coffee with smoke, ashes and that heat in the finish. Fittingly thick and creamy with subtle carbonation. Yes, it’s wierd, but it’s good, it’s a cool brew. A whole bottle on my own though, would prove a task.
