Dark. Not much chipotle but can definitely pick up smoke. Rounds out to strong coffee.

Bottle. Pours black with a dense brown head. Aroma is very hard roasted malt. Tastes of roasted malt, a hint of smoke? The chili-burn grows ever stronger with each sip. I really like it.

think inky black, with a dense brown crown......looks so thick. Pungent heavy coffee aroma, massive chocolate, good leather, ans yes there is spicy pepper. Do I like this aroma?? Spice really heats up the palate. Heavy thickness is the flavor. Coffee, leather, heat, backer chocolate. SO VERY THICK! The lacing is ridiculous. This is not a hot day after yard work beer.....sigh. My burp had a nice grape fruit hop flavour. I do dig the heat in the brew its perfectly balanced with the flavour. high quality brew perfectly executed but this was not what i wanted to night.

Half Pint at Euston Tap. Black with slight bubbly dark yellow-brown head. Spicy, ’hot’ but otherwise smooth chilli beer. Quite different to the barrel aged version if I recall it rightly.

330 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a large, fluffy light brown head that remains and leaves a small amount of lace. The nose has big notes of charred malts, chipotle, smoked malts and espresso, paired with just a touch of herbal hops. The flavour is moderately sweet up front with chocolate malty notes and touches of earth and herbal hops. A distinct spiciness enters in the middle and builds towards the finish, imparting a mild chill heat. In the background, roasted malts, chocolate and perhaps a touch of espresso continue to develop, along with soft herbal hops. The finish is long and roasty, with a mild spiciness. On the palate, it is full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and average carbonation. Overall, a nice stouty ale with a significant peppery accent. The pepper is a bit too much for my taste, and I’d be intrigued to try the base without the chipotle. 2014-10-14

Aroma: Smoke, tar, smoked meat, rich as hell. Appearance: Black as can be medium beige head, lacing. Flavour: Same as in the nose with a warming and peppery finish. First beer I’ve tried that has chili in it, and it makes it’s prescence known. Mouthfeel: Average. Total: I liked it a lot.

Barrell aged chipoltle porter bottle.Poured to a lager pub glass.Initial 3 finger cinnamon tan head, lots of lacing. Fantastic aroma, mainly a malt milk chocolate, a little carmel and sweetness, somewhat fresh bready. You can kinda detect some heat.Vanilla bourbon oak tones.Great aroma! Taste is smooth medium sweet, creamy chocolate with a light but smooth kind of roastyness fairly bready with the creamyness and some dark cherry kind of edge to it, there is a nice bitterness in the finish balanced and smooth as well. Some earthy oaky dryness comes out as it warms giving it a mild woody chocolate dryness. The chiplotle heat comes out a bit in the finish but i probably wouldnt know it had i not known chipoltle was in it.But you can start to notice it in the finish as it warms.

Grifo. Paladar sabroso y abundante. Final intenso de granos de café torrefactos y retrogusto picante y largo. Cerveza con un sorprendente equilibrio de sabores. On-tap. ˝ Pint glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Black color headed by brownish beige froth. Medium size bubbled, rocky, slowly dissipated crown. Roasted malts, spicy notes, burnt bread & yeast to the nose. Sweet roasted malt & coffee flavors with chocolate hues. Subtle spicy chili & moderate bitterness in the middle. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Flavorful & plentiful palate. Intense roasted coffee grains finish & long peppery aftertaste. Amazing well balanced flavor beer.

On keg at Brewdog, pours as a thick textured black imperial stout, with chocolate malts, toasted coffee, chilli, smoked vegetable, all coming together well in a smooth finish. Excellent beer, unusual because of the thick velvety finish for a 6.6%.
