15 cl. draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft // pours black with a dark mocha head // smells like dark, seriously roasted malts, chilli, bitter chocolate & black coffee // initially the taste starts out with a heavy, bitter, strongly roasted layer of malts, cocoa, spices, light liquorish, black chocolate, the roast intensifies in the finish and you suddenly get the spicy burst, Thai chilli & chipotle, serious spiciness but enjoyable & the dark roast holds up, the beer fades & a brief enjoyable burns stays in your mouth, unbalanced balance // touch grainy roast body, substantial, between creamy & oily, going to soft carb. // more in your face than the BA version, wonderfully in your face & actually good beyond the burn unlike other chilli beers, I have besides the two Texas Ranger versions // very impressive stuff

Out of all the Mikkeller arrivals this week this is by far the most supported and loved. Chipotle porter ROCKS!!!!! Any god fearing Ozzie who loves their chilli tim tams will find this beer right up their alley. The beer pours a picture perfect porter, dark, choclatey in colour with a rich coffee like head on top. Unsure what the balance was going to be like I had to try it straight away and found that the gas did not turn this into a spicy hot chocolate flabby and out of sync, O was I wrong... the suds were in balance with the smoothy choclatey mouthfeel and the chipotle was neither the prima donna or the second fiddle during the entire act. Harmonious construction, lingering spiciness and delicate balance... Hedonistic as this may be, this would rock out as a chicken marinade or like my Friday will be spent: Tim tam slamming a Texan..... YEE HAW!!!!

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2013 Bottle from Hökeren.
Pours dark brown with a brown head.
This is really something. The aroma is mainly chocolate and some fruit/port/madeira. The taste, oh boy! Burned/roasted malts, some hops (pretty fresh bottle), loads of chocolate, some sweet notes and then...the chili kicks in, bites and hangs on for a long while. One of my favourites. Feels more like a stout than a porter.
Looking forward to see how it will taste after a few years ageing.
Added 120715: Pretty much the same as the last time but with some milk chocolate/cold cocoa drink in taste. Chocolate malts is more prominent this time.

750 from Frank Smith’s. Pours..wow, this pour is thick, deep black with very little light through, and a 3-finger brown head that stays around longer than an unwanted house guest. Nose is huge black patent and choc malts, peppers, both black and red, and hops...huge hops. The nose is Alpha Klausy. Tastes rich, smooth, velvety, with a big choc syrup, cacao, and roasty black patent malt flavor, a lot of peppers, and a lot of hops. This one is very complex, very easy to drink, and the chipotle bolsters and accentuates the malt and hops. This one is delicious.

Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee with notes of chocolate. Flavor is intense, surprised this isn’t a stronger beer. Strong roasted coffee bitterness mellowed out with a sweet dark chocolate finish. Finish was fairly mild then there’s just a slight pepper bite in the finish. Smokey throughout and aftertaste is rich but not cloying. Impressive beer, well worth finding.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Damn this beer is insanely good... And unique. Perfect pour - black with a thick, heavily tanned head leaving lots of spotty lacing. Nose shows a ton of dark cocoa powder with a finish of green peppers and vanilla. Solid, very balanced porter to begin with. Heavy cocoa in the taste with a very lengthy chillie burn on the finish. I’m not a huge fan of chillie but this works brilliantly. Damn hot as well ! Lingers forever. Damn fantastic beer
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 pineypower (2146) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - FEB 11, 2011
Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours black with a moderate dark brown head. Very complex aroma of Chipotle pepper, chocolate and light roast. Taste is very complex also, nice chocolate, roast, and interwoven chili pepper taste. Its there throughout, but no heat really comes in until the finish, and even then its only a slight burn. Incredibly complex beer for only weighing in at 6.6%. World class
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 Suttree (4452) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 12, 2011
I loved this stuff. Seriously. Black, big dense tan head. Really fantastic aroma - smoky, chocolaty, peppery and a touch of coffee. Flavor is coffee up front, with some other traditional porter flavors in the background. The smoky, chipotle doesn’t really kick in until the end. Nice reserved spicy burn slowly builds as you drink it. Absolutely loved it.
