Pour thanks to daknole! Deep brown/black with an intense beige head. Mikkeller makes such attractive beers. Aroma is heavy with dark chocolate, espresso, and a nice underlying spice. Flavor shows the same with additional roast malt, light smoke, and the chipotle spice definately makes itself known. Overall body is full, viscous, and finishes with a dry bitterness and spicy heat. Mmmm.

Bottle 750ml at Henrik Øl & Vinstove i Bergen. Shared with friends. Pours dark black with little head. Smells of chocolate, tar and coffee. Tastes somewhat the same but adds a kick from the chili. Mikkeller does it again. A king among porters.

750 ml bottle of awesomeness. Poured a pitch black body underneath a large dense dark brown head. Aroma is super complex with fresh green peppers dominating along with honey, molasseses, dark chocolate, artisinal crusty breads dipped in olive oil, slight medicne. The body starts off medium but builds to a full creaminess, the heat however is what sets this apart. The heat builds and builds towards the ending and then lingers and lingers and lingers. Flavors of pepper, lots of fresh spicey green peppers, chocolate pudding, more chocolate. This is just one great beer.

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours black with a moderate dark brown head. Very complex aroma of Chipotle pepper, chocolate and light roast. Taste is very complex also, nice chocolate, roast, and interwoven chili pepper taste. Its there throughout, but no heat really comes in until the finish, and even then its only a slight burn. Incredibly complex beer for only weighing in at 6.6%. World class

750mL "Chipotle Porter" bottle. A jet-black pour with a thick & creamy mocha head that leaves rings of lacing behind. A rich aroma that features lots of smoke, chili peppers, BBQ, cocoa powder, caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, and some grapefruity hoppiness in the background. Medium to full-bodied and silky smooth on the way down. The taste is moderately sweet upfront with some chocolate, cocoa, and caramel. A fairly dry finish that lingers with a bit of grapefruitiness. Wow! A really authentic BIG chili pepper burn in the back of the throat that hangs around forever. The chipotle peppers actually overshadow the ample hoppiness. Some smokiness (BBQ and charcoal) is present throughout. Interesting and unique. I’ve had other beers brewed with chili peppers, but none have imparted the essence on this level. Another winner from Mikkeller.

I loved this stuff. Seriously. Black, big dense tan head. Really fantastic aroma - smoky, chocolaty, peppery and a touch of coffee. Flavor is coffee up front, with some other traditional porter flavors in the background. The smoky, chipotle doesn’t really kick in until the end. Nice reserved spicy burn slowly builds as you drink it. Absolutely loved it.

Black, with a big brown head with light lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, chipotle peppers, roasted malt, wood. The taste is rich and malty, moderately spicy, and woody. Medium-full bodied, dry, and creamy. Very, very good.

The color is spot on but there isn’t much head. A lot of roasted notes and smoke in the aroma. The flavor is like you’d expect. A velvety smooth smoked porter with chile heat at the end. It’s a late heat that really lingers. I’d put the heat on a level close to a mild jalapeno.Certainly not overpowering. And, since it’s a porter, if you search for some bittersweet chocolate, you’ll find it. The smoke comes out more as it warms. Really pleased with my first chile beer and I want more!

You can just get that smell of pepper mixed in with the aromas of smokey coffee and chocolate. The roast chocolate rests on your palate along with slight vanilla and slight coffee tones as well. The chili comes in at the end, when the sweetness gives way to that nice burn in the back of your mouth. A very memorable beer, and even with its spice, I found it very drinkable.
