Bottle from KAggie97, Cowboy from Hell.
Pours a thick, 10/40 black with a hot chocolate brown head of dense foam. Nose is straight-up cocoa powder and chocolate with fresh coffee grounds in a hairspray solution. I’m not detecting any chipoltle at this point. As it warms, a slight note of black pepper and chipotle emerges. But if the label had not denoted the chipotle addition, the nose would not reveal it to even the most fervent sniffs. The flavor, on the other hand, is a subtle yet aggressive blend of black pepper, chipotle, chocolate, and a touch of coffee. The peppery presence gives the mouthfeel plenty of pop and a fair amount of heat. Overall, a decent beer but I can’t say I’d buy another, especially at the $12 price tag for a 750.

BCTC 2010, ratebeer tent, my bottle. darker pour, roasted malt aroma with hints of the pepper heat. Flavor has pepper heat that builds up as you go. Chipotle smokeiness & heat build on the palate for awhile. Solid porter roastiness & flavor. Good beer

Draft at the Anvil Houston 7/30/10. Black with a big tan head. Nose is chocolate with a light peppery aroma. Taste is very sharp and the peppers come out strong. Tangy and hot with some coffee flavors. Very dry. Body is medium and fluffy. Interesting but a glass was enough-a bomber needs to be shared.

Bottle labeled Chipotle Porter. Dark brow pour, tan head. Chocolate, caramel malt, smoky, and spicy pepper (but not over powering). A nicely done pepper beer, that is well balanced.

Refreshing taste with hints of coffee, chocolate, chili. A flavor that is most similar to moist air the day after rain and very refreshing. Strong smoky aftertaste.

Sample thanks to Armin. Dark chocolate brown pour, little carbonation and an aroma of chipotle peppers(and nothing else.) Flavor is light malt, spicy chipotle peppers and a nice smokey heat that lingers. Very good for a chili beer!

It pours DARK chocolate brown with fluffy tan-orange head. Smokey aromas chocolate, barbecue and alcohol. Nice flavors of mocha and chili. It’s full bodied, a little slick and moderately carbed. The burn sticks in your throat so be ready. DELICIOUS

_angst_ (2728) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 4, 2011
Sample tried at Gothenburg Beer Festival on September 3. Pours a black liquid with a small brown head. Smell is of roasted malt, tobacco, chocolate and green chili peppers. The taste is dominated with the smoked character of the chipotle pepper but there is also some liquorice and chocolate. The aftertaste is dominated by the chili heat but as someone used to hot food I don’t take too much notice of the heat. A good chili beer even though I can imagine that people not used to chili would have enjoyed less heat.
