Wow, as a realy dark beer this comes on nose surprisingly not roasted malt or burnt dominant, instead aroma seems like smooth balance between spices, noble hopping, creamy, a bit coffe, burnt sugar light sweet, a bit smoked and olny then roasted malt. Pours black with huge brown tan cap, good rounded lacing with good stamina. Elegant! Taste is galacticly far away sweet, burnt or roasted bitter, also medium hopping bitter I sense, and od course spicy, peppery profile. Palate - above mediyum body, oily texture, overruned spicy, a bit astringent on tongue, soft carbonation, long , bitter mild dry finish. O.A. - well it is not beer for everyday, no doubt. Brewed nicely seems to me although it is one time sample, cause peppery id so dominant, it is difficult to enjoy this beer.

On tap @ CBF 2010. The aroma has pepper, coffee and a hint of iodeine/medicin. Black, oily coloured ber with an fluorescent brown head. The taste is peppery sharp with coffee and roast. Bit too sharp.

My bottle said Chipotle Porter. OK, but not great. Some hints of heat but really no chile flavor. Didn’t get much Porter roastiness either. Maybe these chile beers aren’t for me despite growing up on the things here in Tejas. I didn’t care for Rogue’s either.

Very dark with a tan head. Taste reminds me more of a stout than anything. Tons of roastiness with chocolate and coffee flavors. The bit of smokiness and spice from the peppers gives it personality, though it may be a bit too spicy for some. I’d say between Billy’s Chilies and Cave Creek (looking past the taste).

Picked this bottle up at Connecticut Avenue in DC. Served in a Cantillon tulip. Pours black with a really nice tan head--very cream with good spotty lacing and a really thick collar. The nose is slightly roasted with a nice chipotle afterburn. Slight roasted malt character underneath. The taste, however, is all chipotle on the first sip. Pretty intense. Nothing too terrible or wrong with it other than that it is not really balanced out by roasted malt, chocolate, or anything else. This is just quite one-dimensional. Finish has a bit of actual chipotle taste with some burn in the finish. Medium body with little balance. Okay, but I think they could have made this much better. Smell: A really roasty, coffe, havreflarn (sort of like a oatmeal cookie). Taste: Grapefruit, chocolait, burnt, havreflarn and a quite a heat. Mouthfell: Thick, robust, some heat. Notes: A nice robust porter, interesting, but not one I’ll be dying to try again.
