Bottle at home. Aroma of citrus, ripe orange, floral notes, tangerine, malt, caramel, grapefruit, pine resin, hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a long medium bitter finish. Body is full and rich. Somewhat boozy, but not excessively so. Incredibly smooth and well-balanced. Wow, delicious beer!

Lingering beige head. Light clouwdy red color. Caramell and hoppy aropmas that also have a tuch of vegetables. Hop infused caramell soup. Very intense in the taste but really a low drinkabillity. Big body and way to much residual sweetness.

16/V/15 - 75cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ the Abeels (NL) - BB: 1/XI/15 (2015-646)

Clear amber to red brown beer, big creamy irregular yellowish head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, bit resinous, exotic fruits, sugary, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity start, pineapple, some citrus, caramel, sweet malts, bitter hops, some alcohol. Aftertaste: malty, some citrus, very bitter, fruity touch.

Tap, Moderate roasted, cereal and caramel for the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with date and fig and a hint of sherry. Head is small, creamy/frothy, off-white with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly lasting. Color is murky amber/orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and slightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily with a soft to lively finish, and finishes dry, lightly astringent and sticky. A damn good Barley Wine with a rare mix of depth and perfect balance.

Bottle: Thanks, Mike. Copper body with a swampy brown tint; translucent, topped with a half-inch eggshell layer of foam. HEAVY buckwheat on the nose. Very dry & grainy, spicy as a result. Alcohol stands out, too. Back-end has notes of perfume, flowers, roses, grass, & a mild staleness. Flavor is the same. Overloaded with dry buckwheat, spicy grains, & earthiness. Kind of old tasting, accented by booze, stale caramel malt, light papery oxidation, grass, & mild herbal notes. Sticky malts get sweeter with time, the finish grows more cloying with each sip. Still maintains a strong graininess & stale flavor. This one wasn’t for me.
