Aroma is roasted malts, pineapple, apple, honey and an earthiness. Taste is sweet malts and a fairly deep hop profile that has clove, lemon grass and hay. Finishes with light tanin and liquor snap. Appearance is a cloudy orange with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

pours orange hazy and smooth with sticky lacing and nice head. Nose explodes with pine and some orange rind/ zest. Taste is similar with a load of pine and citrus rind giving it bitterness that is clean but not overly complex. a hint of orange sweetness but not very much. Palate was medium heavy but oh so drinkable. Very smooth. Should add that this was a three year old bottle.

Poured from its 750ml l bottle, a hazy copper orange, with a Belgian style head that soon recedes. Belgian style yeas mix with tropical fruits, as someone else said, in a blind tasting, I would have this as a DIPA or triple IPA, it doesn’t have the sweetness that I associate with barley wines. Loads of fresh hops on the finish. This is a great beer, and very easy drinking.

Tasted on 11/12/11 on draft at the Three Floyds Anniversary party. Pours bright burnt orange with an average beige head that slowly recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is hoppy resin bitterness with sweet caramel and toffee malt. The flavor is sweet caramel and toffee, a somewhat burnt note, and plenty of bitter resin hops. The body is full and syrupy with average carbonation and a long caramelized and bitter resin hops finish.

Aroma: strawberry, champagne, cookie, citric, resin, grass, red fruit, bubblegum, banana; Appearance: deep reddish orange, small frothy head; Taste: medium bitterness, intense sweetness, medium sourness; Palate: medium body, thick texture, average carbonation, bitter finish Delicious mouthfeel, well-hidden alcohol, similar to Big Worster but less malty, more hoppy and less boozy. My 300th review on RateBeer :-D

Wow! This is the kind of beer that crushes the rules! It is a barley wine right? Noze is Lagunita’s-ish: aromas of hops, flowers and tropical fruits coming out from the glass. Liquid is copper and fizzy. Head is magnificient! What a great looking beer! Taste is smooth. A little alcohol, peaches, pears, hops and black licorice. Palate is very nice too. Syrupy and oily at the same time, carbonated, fresh. Long fruity after-taste. In my personnal opinion, this beer is more on the Double IPA side than a barley wine. Perfect before meal as a great aperitif, this beer is a big wow for me!

Aroma is straight up apricots and oranges with not that much else besides a light bread note. The taste is far away from barley wine, apricots, mango and a moderate bitterness. This one is truly fresh and uplifting, but if it’s a massive barley wine you are going after, think again. Never the less, it’s a very good brew and it’s very drinkable. Maybe a bit too easy to drink?
