750 mL bottle courtesy of Chris, served in a stem glass. Pours clear reddish-amber with a small, off-white head that fades quickly. The nose has big resiny hops up front, along with caramel, bready malts, candy sugar, fruit and flowers. The flavour is moderately bitter and resiny throughout, but balanced with caramel malts, bread and earth. The hops build further to a nice bitter resinous finish that lingers. On the palate, it is medium-full in body with a syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice hoppy barley wine that borrows heavily from the IPA realm. 2012-08-04

2/21/13. Bomber from csteele2144! Nice rich brown pour with a nice tan head. Rich dark fruits in the aroma with a touch of roast and maybe a hint at oxidation. Nice flavor with rich dark fruits, sugar, roast, and more. Tasty.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of frothy white colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation hazy golden orange colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of hops. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

Draft at Butcher & the Boar. Lovely aroma. Sweet and rich but not overly hoppy. Deep murky reddish brown with an off white head and lovely lace. Rich and hot initially but really improves as it warms. Could use some mellowing time but excellent.

75cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a cloudy amber with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has fresh hoppiness and a caramel maltiness. The taste has more of the same and big alcohol notes. The palate is big in structure with a big creamy texture and a great long but elegant finish. Overall, great beer.

Poured into 9oz stemless tulip. Pours a light orange with faint cream head. Smells and taste of caramel, toffee, and wheat. Lighter than some of the other barley wines I’ve had, with the flavors not as prounounced I’ve to come to expect from not only barleywines, but three floyds as well. All in all a nice beer.

0,75 l bottle, shared with friends, Csakajósör, Budapest
Poured hazy amber-mahagony with a fine creamy tan head that stays til the and on the surface. Thick aroma with candies, malt and caramel, spicies and pine, vanilla and candy sugar, green leaves and hop cones. Thick body with a huge ammount of tastes. Caramel and candy sugar, vanilla again with overriped tropical fruits at the first slip, after that the hop arrives with herbal, pine and resin, grapefruit and citrusses. Longlong bitterness in the aftertaste. Fantastic!
