Aroma cítric de llúpol. Comença amb un sabor dolç que es converteix ràpidament en amarg, que dura molt a la boca. Barley wine atípic. Carbonatació suau, bon cos. Bona cervesa.

Tap, Moderate roasted, cereal and caramel for the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with date and fig and a hint of sherry. Head is small, creamy/frothy, off-white with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly lasting. Color is murky amber/orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and slightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily with a soft to lively finish, and finishes dry, lightly astringent and sticky. A damn good Barley Wine with a rare mix of depth and perfect balance.

Bottle: Thanks, Mike. Copper body with a swampy brown tint; translucent, topped with a half-inch eggshell layer of foam. HEAVY buckwheat on the nose. Very dry & grainy, spicy as a result. Alcohol stands out, too. Back-end has notes of perfume, flowers, roses, grass, & a mild staleness. Flavor is the same. Overloaded with dry buckwheat, spicy grains, & earthiness. Kind of old tasting, accented by booze, stale caramel malt, light papery oxidation, grass, & mild herbal notes. Sticky malts get sweeter with time, the finish grows more cloying with each sip. Still maintains a strong graininess & stale flavor. This one wasn’t for me.

Bottle at the Cads 10th Anniversary bash, thanks to Daniel, 29/03/15. Very lightly hazed orange amber with a decent beige covering. Nose is rich fruits, orange marmalade, spice, toffee sauce, candied fruit peel. Taste comprises sticky toffee, mandarin, candied orange peel, spice, sticky tropical fruit notes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent barley wine, good depth of character and balance of sweetness tempered with bitterness.

Cloudy brown color, minimal off-white head. Bready, fruity and hoppy aroma, a bit boozy (not that strong for 10.4% ABV). Taste is similar, with pleasant bitterness and nice bittersweet fruity finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Really nice one.

Restrained but full aroma in a cloudy dark brown pour. Totally different taste is woody but laid back. Bitter initial balance dissipates to leave a pleasing finish. Totally hides the strength - which could be dangerous if one likes it.

Cloudy amber/brown, average sized off white head. Aroma is malty, fruity. Taste is also malty, fruity, yeasty, slightly piney. Light but pleasant hoppy touch. Very thick and smooth. No alcohol presence. Full body, soft carbonation. Very interesting.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper color with big head that settles quickly. Aromas of oranges, sweet malts, and pine. Flavors of same. Smooth and somewhat light for barley wine with a hot, bitter finish. Very nice.

Not sure how I had not rated this before, anyways here it goes. 75cl bottle shared at The Cad’s 10yr anniversary celebrations at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks to Daniel for this one. It pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, with notes of candied orange peel, apricot jam, resin, wood, and light alcohol. Taste is sweet and lightly bitter and boozy in the finish, with notes of orange peel, resin, wood, vanilla, apricot jam. Full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, nice American style barleywine.
