Ungstrup (29850) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 29, 2011
Draft. A hazy amber beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, bread, malt, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is very sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, bread, citrusy hops, over ripe fruits, and a bit of hay, leading to a dry, bitter and a bit alcoholic finish.

On tap. Slightly hazy reddish amber with an off-white head. Intense hop aroma with no particular hop sticking out. A little caramel and glue in the nose as well. Full-bodied, caramel and sweet fruit, again a touch of glue with the hops really kicking in, peaches and a whiff of coconut. The finish has a massive hop bite and quite some warming alcohol. Quite delicious. 020911

omhper (19974) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JAN 20, 2012
Draught at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm. Hazy ruby, small creamy head. Fruity nose with salty mango-like hops. Near full bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Light notes of butter underneath all the tropical fruit hops. A bit too much hops for the buckwheat flavour to come out. Massive salty bitterness. Nice flavours, but not in thr right proportions. Could be a winner with some tweaking.

Borefts Beer Festival 3. Hazy orange - amber beer. Little cream coloured head. Smooth palate, fine carbonation. Trace of honey in the buckwheat malt. Mild fresh orange fruit but not that hoppy. Minerally. Crisp finish. Nice but was expecting something much more hoppy after the earlier goops! Original rating 3.5

Semi soft and semi dry palate with fine carbonation. Mild minerals. Creamy malt with both sweet and spicy characteristics. Really nice hops! Bitter pine and citrus. Resinous marmalade with a trace of lemon. Semi dry finish. Fantastically joined up and overall slightly sweet. Touch of subtle red fruits underneath. Hugely drinkable. This is what I was expecting and what I didn’t get when I first sampled it at Borefts 3.

Red-amber color, with small head. Heavy aroma of malt, fudge and cereals, sweet, with some fruitiness from the hops. Heavy body too, thick maltiness, sweet without being a syrupy Barley Wine, but no evidence of buckwheat; burning both for the hops and the alcohol.
It’s never bad, but it’s too much.
