courtesy of Allouch - dark blond beer with a chaotic foam left; chewy perfumy and estery aroma of pear; sweet and tasty; full-bodied, creamy palate and very bitter; quite dry and chewy estery fruity finish, pretty hoppy

750ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is fruity and grainy. Taste is a bold fruity and grainy malt sweetness with a citrusy hop bitterness. Flavors are very well balanced. Medium to heavy body with nice carbonation leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate. The only barley wine attribute is the graininess, still this is a truly outstanding brew and highly recommended.

Bottle at Pibar, Lausanne
Hazy light amber color with medium sized creamy head. The aroma is initially hop forward, fruity; later there is smell of feet and manure. Strong bodied, round mouthfeel, thick, with malt and wheat flavor, very sweet, with powerful hopping, first resiny, then fruity too. It has a strong earthy character, manure. Warming alcohol.
Extreme, very good, well brewed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
10.4% 1575 yen from Yamaichi. BYOB event. Brewed at De Proefbrouwerij. Similar, amber gold color. Very piney aroma, with a mild funk. The flavor is a deep malty body, with a citrus/pine finish. Pretty good. Much more citrus than Boosgoop & quite a bit more bitter but still palatable and drinkable.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ tasting. Aroma is huge fruity hops, and I mean huge, some nelson, some caramel malt. Flavour is an extremely fruity hop bonanza, very clean and long lasting with a medium bitterness. Awesome! But a BW??

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ar: resin, grapefruit, pine, citric, caramel, alcohol, some undefined tropical fruits in the finish.
Ap: amber colour, medium very creamy off-white head, lacing.
F: big bite, grapefruit, resin, fat caramely malt backbone with little or no roastiness, which gives it a light character despite its assertive prescence, ABv is evident, but well integrated, still there is a decidedly warming finish.
P: full bodied soft carbonation.
T: very appealing. Wonder if the rice contributed to the lovely feeling of the malts being rich and light at the same time?

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fresh bottle. Nice orange-golden. Almost flat. Great citrus hop nose, sweet orange, lemon, honey, and some interesting graininess that might be rice, but if so, something like Basmati. Sweet, honey and orange flavor, great hops. Still very big and full palate, even with the rice. Like a triple IPA at this point. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at Fermentoren. Cloudy orange coloured body. Fragile layer at the top. Bittersweet aroma, some resin and some tropical fruits. Dried and fresh fruits in fine harmony to the taste buds added by a backbone of semi-sweet malts. Lingering, dry bittersweet ending. Decent nightcap (Copenhagen, 21.05.2013).

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Cornelius. Stated as barley wine but looks, smells and tastes like a great DIPA. Main factor for me is that cheese aroma that’s so satisfyingly funky! Pouring golden amber slightly cloudy. Big big off white head dissipating slowly. Massive citrus and funk on the nose, brie and pine. Gloriously smooth on the palate with pine, peach and funky shenanigans. Exceeded expectations!!
