Bottle courtesy of goryshkewych: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a huge brown foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of dry roasted malt notes with some spicy notes in there as well. Taste is a mix between some dry roasted notes similar to a dry stout with some easily discernable spices mix that could have been used in a strong Belgian ale with some weird yeast attenuation. Full body with a creamy texture and some good carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. This one does not fit into one style in particular but is enjoyable nonetheless.

Jul 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown/blak colour with short lasting off-white head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted. Flavor is much of the same with spices, liquorice. Very good.
JB175 (1264), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA
Jul 8, 2008 Darker brown color with an aroma that swayed between cocoa/light coffee and bretty, woody funk. Flavor had some nice roast and sweet, coffee taste plus a bit of wood and funk/spice. Solid mouthfeel. This one was reminiscent of the Captain Lawrence SFTO series, but lighter. Not bad at all.

Jul 3, 2008 Nice chocolatey beer where the spicing could just as easily have come from the yeast, hops and malts as from actual spices. Very balances. Slight roast and anise. Some alcohol warmth in the swallow.

Jul 1, 2008 Courtesy mgumby10. Poured a deep black color with a thin tan head. The aroma was of dark malts, spices, chooclate, and a touch of roast. The flavor followed suit with the chocolate malts and roasty flavors, and then the spices really kicked in. Medium bodied and very spicy which made this a very unique porter. I like how they strayed from the usual on this one, which made this enjoyable. Glad I got to try this one.

Jun 26, 2008 (750ml bottle) Pours a opaque black body with a medium brown head. Complex nose of roasted malt, lactose sourness, cinnamon, chocolate, anise, clove, licorice, and vinous. Flavor of roasted malt spruce, vanilla, clove, and nutmeg. Nice holiday beer!
