On tap at The Bishop Arms Folkungagatan, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma of tart citric fruits, some barnyard funk, and lemon -- very citrusy nose. Flavour brings out dry lemon, low funky qualities, sour citrus fruits, and yeast. Quite tart and citrusy, with little of the traditional Belgian gueuze qualities. Decent, but leaves much to be desired.

Bottle from Salling. Pours fairly clear bronze with a tiny off white head that quickly disappear. Nose has funk, some very light dank hops and some lemon peel. Taste has leather, funk and some light sweetness. After having St. Gilloise I expected this one to be hoppier.

Draught @ Basement Beer Bar, Aalborg
Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, barnyard, tart, horseblanket, sour fruitiness and vinegar. Taste is light sweet and medium sour with a long slightly dry, sour, vinegar and fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange body with a medium creamy white head. Nose is a weird mixture of grassy tones, red fruits, hay, wine gum, beetroot juice, berries, barnyard funk and hints of cinnamon and herbs. Hard to describe, really. Taste is lemons, citric peel, hay, grass, barnyard funk, wine gum, rhubarb, red fruits, beetroot juice and hints of herbs and wood. Medium to light body, medium to high carbonation. Whooa there, this is really weird. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "funky". Not sure if I like it, but Betelgeuze certainly is the most out-there experimental-tasting beer I’ve had in a while. :-P

Pours hazy yellow amber with a tiny white head. Aroma is tart and funky with notes of herbs, some oak, floral notes, weak vinegar and old hops. Taste is pretty straight forward tart and sour with some dry wood, citrus, vinegar and dry old hops. Nice dry feel to it.

On tap @ Cardinal. Unclear orange body with a small white head. Nice funky aroma with medium sourness and acidic fruit. Flavor is acidic fruity, fynky, tart and feels both sweet and dry. A good balance here. Nice body and long, sour and dry aftertaste. Nice all the way.

Draft @ Basement Beer Bar in Aalborg. Aroma is tart and some citrus hops, vinous. Pours hazy amber with a small white head. Minimal head is lasting. Taste is heavily sour, some sweetness, apple, dry. Full body, medium body, watery texture, finish is mouthwatering dry.

Bottle. Bright yellow with minuscule white head. Aroma has tons of citrus, lime, subtle hop grassiness and some earthy and leathery stuff. Taste is equivalently clean and no-bullshit. The yuzo-citrus-stuff pops into mind, as well as lime and orange. Very nice.

Serving: 375 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It a slightly hazy orange with just the slightest of heads. The nose is funky fresh with notes of barnyard, hay, and white wine barrel. There is a nice bit of tannic oak the flavor with a bright chardonnay taste and a good bit of funky tartness. Nice clean finish. Good stuff.

Bottle from Stone Brewery. Pours a cloudy golden with bright white head. Nose is very complex. Citrus fruit, grapefruit, mango, tart berries and some light funk all in there. Taste shows a citrus and berry tartness. Light sourness. Could maybe be a little more sour for my liking. Still solid though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
