3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 patricks110 (815) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 22, 2011
USAlive! pours a murky amber brown with a thick foamy beige head. A nose of prominent lemon and floral, fruity hops with big estery notes. A hint of malt and a subtle alcohol note on the nose. The taste is sweet and fruity in the middle with an infringing yeast and spice. Strong yeast and estery notes on the finish with a nice hop and a subtle barnyard funk. This has a nice mild hop with a unique blend of citrus, caramel malts, yeast, spices, tropical fruits and a light funk. Overall, a bit too complex, but still and awesome brew.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 ClubGonzo (1736) - Bergen, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2011
On tap @ Henrik, Bergen. Hazy deep orange body, small creamy off-white head. Nose is Belgian candy sugars, Belgian ale yeast, grass, resin and hints of bubble gum and caramel. Resinous and very dry, nearly astringent in the finish and quite unbalanced. Prickly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Very original, but not the most successful marriage of styles as far as I’m concerned. This is one of those times when Mikkeller actually gets off target in my book.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Finn (2470) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 5, 2011
Fra kran på Schouskjelleren, Oslo 18 Okt 11. Gyldenbrun. Litt uklar. Lavt kremaktig skum som fester seg til glasset. Kompleks fruktig aroma. Litt syrlig. Smaken er mye frukt - litt tyggegummipreg - men god! Svakt tørr bitter & syrlig ettersmak.
