3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rodenbach99 (1750) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 27, 2011

Clear amber with a big off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, karamel and rather hoppy - pine needles and grapefruit. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 200711

Bottled. Hazy amber, lively head. Grapefruity hoppy nose. Mid sweet. Fruity with a bit of sweat, funk and hay. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Grapefruity hops works as a blanket to cover the finer nuances of the beer and creates a long resiny bitterness.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 GJF (973) - Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Not quite sure on this--it’s got several styles sort of mixed together. Bottle at Sanctuary. Floral nose. Sweetish beer, followed by a bit of brett flavor and a dry, bitter finish. Flavor drops off immediately. Some harsh edges to it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dumontn (423) - CHICAGO, Illinois, USA - JUL 5, 2011
Pale hazy amber with 1 finger head. Aroma is slight balsamic vinegar, caramel candy, and citrus. Taste is citrus peel, funk, candy, and caramel. Body is medium with soft carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, Belgian strong ales are generally too yeasty for me but this slightly funky and sour ale is quite enjoyable. Not one of the best I’ve had from Mikkeller, but nice enough.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. Nice yeasty flavor with moderate brett and caramel malt presence. Some more fruit and grapefruit hops in the finish. Fairly good stuff.

Sampled on 6/18/2011. This wild ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head with good lacing and nice retention. The aroma is fruity, sweet, tart and slightly funky. A medium bodied wild ale. The malts are fruity, sweet and dry. The hops are herbal and earthy. Lively carbonation. Fruit, tart and ever so slightly funky. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly tart.
