On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Orange to amber colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of American hops and brettanomyces / farmhouse. Nice flavour of fruity and resinous American hops, medium sweet with notes of caramelized orange marmalade, hints of brettanomyces in the background. Fairly bitter finish.

I’m pretty sure Mikeller is Danish for genius. Nose has hints of grapefruit but delicate. It pours the color of iced tea with a thin white head and some lacing. Again you get big hop flavor without the bitterness. This shouldn’t be possible. This beers wears it’s 8% very well. What a pleasure it is to drink this beer.

Bottle @ Cask Pub and Kitchen in London. Pours an amber color with a frothy white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, with alot of grapefruit, brett, pine and some resinous notes. The flavor is quite hoppy with grapefruit and pine, along the brett and some breadiness. The body is medium with a fairly dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty nice Belgian Strong Ale, with IPA notes because of the intense hoppy flavors.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BartC (513) - Lichtaart, BELGIUM - APR 3, 2011
Amber colored clear beer with a creamy off white head. Fizzy carbonation. Nice citrus taste, bitter and citrus / grapefruit more at the end. An Orval-lookalike but with US hopps: for sure a nice experiment.
